Harrah’s Entertainment will pay $100,000 to settle a complaint filed by Nevada gaming regulators over sports wagering issues at its Harrah’s Las Vegas sports book.

The Gaming Control Board said a sports book supervisor rescinded three professional basketball wagers totaling $1,650 from a customer in April 2008. The wagers were made on “overnight lines on professional basketball.” After the wagers were accepted and betting tickets were issued, a supervisor took back the wagers and refunded the patron’s bets.

The patron was told he could make the wagers the next day at Caesars Palace, which is also owned by Harrah’s.

Gaming regulators said the move violated a gaming commission regulation stating that a sports book may not unilaterally rescind a wager without prior written approval of the Gaming Control Board chairman. In a stipulated settlement signed Thursday, Harrah’s admitted the allegations in the complaint and agreed to pay a fine of $75,000 and reimbursement costs of $25,000.

    Thanks for posting.

I avoid Caesars and most of the casinos associated with Harrah’s.  My revenge on them comes during the WNBA season because I go to all their casinos and max out my WNBA bet.  This is time consuming because the max at the casinos is $200-$300 (Sad, but true).

I avoid even Caesars because they'll only allow certain max bets.  For instance; management noticed I was winning, so after trying to get approved on a 2k baseball over/under, I was denied and told the max is always $1100.  Funny because the day before I was able to place a $4k wager a baseball over/under.

The part of the story the article doesn't tell you is that the "patron" in question was Jeff Haney, who wrote a column for the Las Vegas Sun about gambling and sports betting. He wrote an article about the book supervisor rescinding his bets and if he didn't have the newspaper as his forum, this whole incident probably would have never seen the light of day. It sounded to me like the whole thing was a pissing contest, he must have wrote something at some time about Harrah's that they didn't like, and the super did it to be a prick.

    I find this laughable.

So you were winning and instead of a $2000 bet you were only allowed $1100 bet. So what's the problem?? Go to another casino and place another $1000 bet.

There's no guaranteed win in the 1st place so who's to say Caesar's didn't save you a grand??

These people who get pissed at max bet amounts are full of shit. So you win a grand instead of 2. Nothing stopping you from driving 10 minutes to a separate operation and dropping another grand on the same game.

    I'm glad you're amused!

I pointed out that I avoid them now because of it.  Many people view Vegas as the place with no limit, but it's not the case, and casinos affiliated with Harrah's are very strict about it.  The status you build with them scares them off and once it's time to be approved, they simply deny you.

Denying someone a $2k bet is ridiculous at a place like Caesars.

Letting it go would be the thing for me to do, but when I read online that some people bet $4k or more all day at Caesars it's BS.  It's my negative feedback for them and for the less informed to know how they're.

I can easily just drive to the next casinos, but it's different for someone that plans on flying into Vegas, and staying at Caesars to bet an unlimited amount.  Those individuals are giving Caesars/Harrah's casinos their business (hotels, etc) to only find out the thing holding them back is a limit.

I still don't see the problem. It's their sportsbook and can run it any way they like.

So you put what you can down at Caesars and walk across the street and put down what you can at Bellagio.

Vegas VEt...its is the principle. He wins a couple bets and they think "UHOH, lower his limit"...if a bookie did that to you, it'd be messed up
