Too bad hardly anyone reads this forum anymore..I suppose you should check out GVR if you're gonna be around there in the future.Book is fine I just don't like staying there as you have to jump through some hoops to get to the casino (Elevators,locked door back to rooms,you need your key ,hard to do with a tray of Starbucks coffee for the room)
Even though the Rio has gone downhill,I still like it and know my way around the place blindfolded..Hop across the street to the GC or Palms..The sportsbook staff and bartenders all decent and have been there for years,they know me.Still has the fridge in the rooms and of course the rooms are all pretty big to spread out things..Sportsbook food fine for me everyday..GVR has a so-so food court...GL

Post above..totally agree..wanna stay at convenient hotel with easy close by access to activities...screw all those long walks just to casino...Know any??
Funny the more times you visit..you find out it ain't that big..ANd you find your favorite BOOKS and barkeeps and tables you LOVE to play...I'm lucky... unbeleevable low airfares from Denver to there..

Funny, I did not mind the walk to the casino but now that you mention it, it is a fricking hike and especially as they had me down a long hallway on the total opposite end.
I also got lost a couple of times as the thing is kind of a U shaped? I think.
I commented to my buddy who met me for drinks, that I am not geographically challenged and have stayed in almost all the joints in Vegas but I could not ever remember having more trouble getting around one quickly as I did GVR.
That said, book was top notch.
Drink tickets were bountiful.
Video Poker was 5-8 not 5-6 like the strip is today.
BJ was 3:2
DIce were good odds and I played a 5 dollar table all night with Lagunitas coming q20 minutes.
Also, got comped for Super Bowl and not really on heavy play (play that on the strip would not even be noticed)
Cons other than the layout (which I did better understand on the second day)
Despite drinking way too much I like to workout and I had to go outside to get to the gym? In a t-shirt? in January? Ugh!
No hotties whatsoever, bunch of old blue hair ladies, smoking too much and not ashing their cigs, guess I fit right in there though!
I will be back for SB. I already booked Delano for almost free and will be staying there but will be going to GVR for the BG Party and hopefully, some more $5 craps.

Funny, I did not mind the walk to the casino but now that you mention it, it is a fricking hike and especially as they had me down a long hallway on the total opposite end.
