KInd of a mixed bag of an answer for you........
First off, expect to earn, conservatively, 50% less out here than you can in the Metropolitan area (NYC)....This is NOT a corporate town and even the Harrahs and MGM's are, at best, mediocre where management is concerned.....the executives at the highest levels are "one-trick ponies" and would...most of them...be useless at their current levels back East.
Second, sportsbetting....as wide a range as you seem to like...will not make you a living out here UNLESS you are "juiced" into information. Coming out here and knowing nobody will, eventually, lower that number to a point below what it would take to live comfortably...typically 56-59%.
There is, however, one group out here that IS connected to the gambling operations....the poker players (especially P.I.). These operations make money by setting their own lines, adjusting those lines in Vegas with early money, then reasserting themselves as the game gets closer....typically football, some basketball...never MLB. The poker players are good for Vegas and, consequently, have access to betting priviledges that many do not have; they, in many cases, are used to make these bets for the syndicates.
Thats my early thought on your question....like I said...a mixed bag of an answer....just some food for thought for you.

If I was your career guidance counselor at Harvard (do they have those anymore?).....and I had your posting on my computer, here would be my answer....
Get a solid entry position in NYC....You don't have to be a "beancounter"..but finding a top-100 corporation and being in Corporate Finance would be a strong plus. Then find a nice place to sublet, maybe near NYU, with a couple of friends (live cheaply), plan a half dozen, or so, trips to Vegas (after your first 6 months at work)....give it a solid 3 years (but start looking after 2 1/2)...then come out to Vegas.
The economy will be better, your resume will be in the top 1 percentile out here, and you will have a better lifestyle and control for what you want out of life out here.
Vegas will still be here in 3 years; but you need to establish yourself first...and establishing yourself out here is a joke. You could have done a C-level college with a 2.7 gpa and get the best out here.....stay East, come out often...explore the area (especially away from the Strip...Henderson is great).....you will have more to say about your future at 25 than you could do now.

Permit me some basic cynacism.....
If you cannot spell "Panorama"...then perhaps you are not capable of attending and/or graduating Harvard.....
Do me a favor, son, convince me otherwise.
PS....Let me give you the benefit of the doubt.....Hartford is a joke....Are you graduating U of Conn or Harvard?.....
However, I digress.....

Typically, when someone new comes into this forum and starts posting multiple threads with little to no knowledge of what they are seeking they turn out to be not who they represent themselves to be.
As to my experience...I was a Management Consultant in NYC for over 30 years...built companies from Investment Management to Fashion....and have serious experience dealing with, both the entry-level crowd as well as CEO's, COO's, and CFO's.
Additionally, I have many years of experience working with major firms out of the NYC-area...to include Hartford and Stamford....and will stand by my assertion that working outside of New York is a detrement to career development as compared to working the same job with the same level of firm in the city.
So, if you were offended by my questioning, then, perhaps, you received a "wake-up call" that will be the first of many for you. Once you cut the cord from the "womb of education" you will see a reality that no one has prepared you for....and, trust me, that includes...first and foremost....Harvard.

I am not saying this in jest. Thanks for your contributions again as I think the above is very sound advice for someone just starting out after college. BOL!

Jesron....thank you for the props...but totally undeserved...
I live by one simple principle: "If you always tell the truth, then you never have to remember what you said."
So, when I open my mouth...or, in this case, move my fingers on the keyboard....I am not giving opinion, I am stating facts. Facts gained from many errors on my part and even some successes. How the person I am talking to perceives these facts is up to them.
