The only thing is that it has to be treated like it is at that point: A business. Just because it can be done, doesn't mean that hurdles won't still have to be overcome. First, the max bet you can get down has to be high enough to be able to make it profitable. That is the real control that the books will always have. If you are a winning bettor, the book controls how much you make by determining how much they let you bet. Bettors think if they keep winning more, they will keep betting more. But this is only true to a point if you are a winning bettor.
Then of course, you will have the fixed expenses of running the operation.
You would need about 15k to properly fund a season in any of the major sports leagues. That would cover all of the overhead.
Luckily, today there are places out there that have high betting limits willing to take lots of action from all players. Of course, that means there is an opportunity for those who can take advantage of it. I am setting up a company to do something similar. If I had to go around from shop to shop getting down a nickel here, dime there, I wouldn't be able to do it. Plus, I'd go crazy. But it's a new world.
