If you move to LV you will be on the outside of the window looking in, and the site isn't pretty on the job market. Windows means housing, and the housing market is in shambles. Do like I did a few years ago, move out there for 3 months and stay in an extended stay. Bring enough to last you for that three months and that is just for living expenses. If you go there with about $9,000 for the first few months for living expenses, then you can get a "taste" of the life there.
Gambling is another matter. I was out there during the end of BB and the beginning of Bball seasons and so I was able to hit the sports book every day and make my small wagers.
Realistically, everyone thinks of striking it rich there, and living the good life. Well, I am out there 2 months out of the year on business trips, et cetera, and believe me it ain't pretty. Nothing is given away like the old days. You are better off in old town for table games (lower limits) , and if you decide to live there permanently, then I would recommend living near Red Rock and that area (Summerlin).
There is so much theft and fraud going on because of the economy there, and local new "friends" will be a plenty, Keep that wallet close to you. Jobs are at a premium, and it is who you know that will make or break you there. Good luck.

Dude I highly suggest that you live in Vegas for a month or so first.I had the same thoughts about three months ago.I looked in Craigs list and found an inlaw fully furnished appartment 5 min from Hilton.Vegas for me is a better place to visit than live in.All the excitement of being in Vegas quickly runs out.It was ok but nothing special and got kinda old quick.I paid for two months but only stayed for one.Trust me when i say having an honest sportsbook like 5dimes at your finger tips is good enough for me.I'm 30 and have done the party thing in college so my experience might be different from yours.

It can get old, but I believe that's the case for anywhere, and maybe you had high expectations. When I first moved out here it was obvious to me what to expect and I realized the excitement would wear thin after a very short time.

I suggest you really think it over and plan it all out. It'll get old like someone else said, but that goes for any place you live, so it just depends on what your expectations are, and what type of lifestyle you plan on living.

Why would you decide to move out there if you don't have a job and don't really know what you are getting into?
I agree. I've seen a couple of posts like this recently. Why would someone move from where they live with a job to somewhere that uncertainty looms? I understand if you have something waiting for you in Vegas, but to go out there with no job lined up is completely irresponsible. I guess that's the problem with today's society. GL if you do go though.

btw, I lived in dallas for better part of my life (irving, garland, euless) you will love the weather here. check on craigs and secure a room before you come down, they go for around $400 a month. you can also stay at those weekly motels, they go for around $800.

If your girlfriend has work then that will buy you time to look for something for yourself. It might be hard to find a job related to your previous work experience but GL!
