Moments ago the the Board of Governors of the National Basketball Association ruled that the Palms casino resort is now permitted to accept wagering on all NBA games - not involving the Sacramento Kings. This will be the first time that the Palms will be allowed to accept wagering on NBA games since it opened in 2001.
The ban was in place because the Palms resort is owned by members of the George Maloof family and the Sacramento Kings are owned by his brothers, Gavin and Joe Maloof.
George Maloof had said previously that the ban had put him at a competitive disadvantage within the Vegas gaming market - and that his casino had lost revenues because of the ban. He proposed the compromise agreement to allow bets on all NBA games except when the Kings were involved. The pitch had been on the board's agenda for almost one year - and now has been finally agreed upon.
