The wife and I are planning our annual Vegas getaway and she had mentioned that she would like to visit the famed pawn shop featured on the History channel. We don't watch much TV, but this is probably our favorite show to watch together.
Just something to do to I guess. Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone has visited their store. Did they meet Rick? Or the Old Man? How was your experience. did you buy anything? Does he have a plethora of championship rings as his intro suggests?

Didn't go personally but I have a few friends who went on a sunday and didn't see any of the characters but they said they championship rings and stuff was pretty sweet. It's probably hit or miss.
Another friend once and saw the old man in a back room.
I'd temper your expectations but it seems everyone who went thought it was cool to check out.

I went about a year and a half ago and it was cool to see the variety of stuff the have in there and several items featured on TV. None of the stars were there and someone mentioned they're only actually at the shop a few days a month. The rest of the time they're on the road doing paid appearances.

We go a couple times a year and everytime we take the Deuce shuttle downtown we pass right by it. Usually a line outside of about 50 to 100 people. Thats normally around 10/11 am. Could be brutal if its' real hot. I know it was 117 yesterday.

Worth the journey if you and wife are fans , have been in half a dozen times , old man in back posing for paid autographs ( pass for me ) one time , never seen the other guys , try and avoid long lines with off peak hour visit - no need to waste Vegas time standing in line to see some dudes who aren't there any way - enjoy

Thanks for the heads up. If there is a waiting line we would just continue moving along, absolutely correct nc1, no need to waste precious Vegas time. We usually have a routine, play, shop, go see shows, have a dinner, go to a club or lounge. Back to the room for sex. Then repeat. Just thought it would be something cool and I would love to haggle with Rick. I know the old man likes silver was gonna bring in about $20 worth of quarters just to see what he offers then rebuttal with "We're worlds apart."
I must say that watching that show over the last 5+ years, has actually improved my negotiating skills. I could never say any other tv show has benefited me in some way besides burning brain cells. But Rick is the man!

It's a little overrated..........went with some friends, waited about 20 mins in line, & turns out it's just like most pawn shops except they have a lot of their own tshirts, card board cutouts of themselves,

I went on the Pawn Stars tour. You get to see Ricks Restorations, the Toy Shack, ultimate sports memorabilia, and the pawn shop. The guys weren't there but everyone was there at the other stops. It was the highlight of my trip.

Pawn stars and the rest of the shows are all fake and scripted, none of what u see on tv is real, it's the typical non reality reality.
It was ok to watch for a couple years, but the fad wore off. I work at shelby and I found out that episode where some guy"found" a cobra chassis in a storage unit was fake. We lent them the chassis and then pawnstars came up with the lie. Stop watching these shows, they're making fools of all of you.

I couldn't agree more, and how is it reality, when they have a camera staring at them?? I never understood that concept, as it's an obvious oxymoron to me.

I delivered the first release of the season 1 on DVD to them.
I met Chumlee and the Old man.
I was told all of them are almost never there together.
And it looks like no one else works there.
There are tons of employees you dont see one TV.
For the show, i was told they put advertise that they are looking for items for the new shows. You have to take it in before hand to see if its worth air time. then comeback for filming. the used to close down for filming now I think they really limit who/how many are in store when filming.
It use to be real small, but They expanded the one side added about 50% more floor space but its mostly their merchandise.
But also have bigger things on floor.
If you go and dont see something, always ask.
I heard they only have about 25% of available items out on floor
they just dont have room. Most of the building they are in is storage.
