My wife and I are going to Vegas in November to watch the LV Invitational basketball tourney, which means we will be stuck there for 4 days. She likes to play slots but is worried that she will be broke early on. Any survival skills to share (other than to not play)? Are the slots downtown or at local casinos friendlier than the brutal Strip casino slots? Thanks for any suggestions.

If your going to be 'stuck' anywhere for 4 days, Vegas would be the choice of many...First off, slots are slots, the slots on the strip are far from being brutal, and there's really no such thing as friendly slots; however, I do have a suggestion, simply play at the casino of the Hotel your staying at, and stick to one machine perpetually, that has a high Jackpot payout ($100,000) the days of 'loose-slots' in LV are over, according to the industry publication: "Gaming Today" the most winning Jackpots over $10k per-cap of machines for the month of August where located at the El Cortez Hotel & Casino, located Downtown, Ironically, the winningest slots in Vegas (once again, according to GT) are located at all 7-Eleven convenience stores throughout the LV metropolitan area (they have 6 slots per store 24/7) I seriously doubt that your wife would enjoy the ambience of a 7-Eleven, but I thought I would be thorough, and mention it.....Hey! enjoy the tournament, I'll also be attending, (I have tickets for 3 games) best of luck to the Mrs, enjoy your stay

I will encourage her to play all the 7-11 stores around town then. I guess you are saying that you can be lucky at any casino or more likely unlucky. It used to be said that the smaller casinos that cater to the locals were friendlier. Anyway it should be a great tournament. I am a long-time Cal fan.
