We are not comped to a party this year. Looking at Southpoint /M or Hilton. Comments Went to Hilton the year the Saints won and waited in line for two hours to get it, seemed like a waste as I do not think it even filled up. Do not want to wait again, but do not want to pay either. Comments? Thanks

The M has a new owner that is really cutting costs......not a hell of a lot of room there.....book area is small and run by Cantor, who leases the space and has no desire to cooperate with Penn, the new owner.
The "Hilton" is no longer the Hilton....now LVH....been on the market for awhile and no takers.......the book and Jay Kornegay are the best....but no guarantees on happiness with everything else there
The South Point is run by one of the best owners in the business....95% locals (but we're not really bad people...lol)....If you can relax with a real off-the -Strip place....this would be my choice.

I will be out there also Crash. Staying at Harrah's (only because it was damn near free with comps) This will be my 3rd time in Las Vegas, but first time for a major sporting event.
I am really not sure where to go. I personally don't mind spending a bit of money to have a good seat to view the game.

I have to been to 5 super bowls now. I have never paid for a $100 party, these seem like a waste but everyone has nice things to say about the one at Bali Hai golf club. I want to be at a casino so I can bet at halftime. I have been to parties at Wynn, Stratosphere and Rio, these were good but I am not gambling at those levels anymore. I went to the Hilton that one year and it was nice, really, they opened up the big auditorium and sold cheap beer and bar food. The crowd was into it, no complaints. I do think I will try the Southpoint, I have never even been there, so I can kill two birds with one stone. I talked to them on the phone and they did not seem to think they would fill up the event center where they have it. Do we need to get there early? We will have a party of 6-8 and wives so will need some decency. If it was the boys would just stand if necessary, different with girls. Thanks guys!

If you are staying at Harrahs talk to your host about a party, they usually have one there. It is a nice time with drinks and such. Call them before you go and see about the other Harrah properties also, they all share, as you already know. I like Harrahs, it has a good vibe and a lot of young hotties! Give them a call though and see what they have to say, be nice and remember it never hurts to ask for things!

I can't speak for Superbowl experience there, but I spent quite a bit of time at the South Point in late Feb 2010. I really enjoyed it! I am more of a Sportsbook guy, and for me this atomsphere was great. I especially enjoyed the bar near the Sportsbook.
I am going this time with my wife and a freind / his wife. Our friends don't like the idea of going off the strip, which means I probably won't be at Southpoint.

here is another link I have also watched it in the Venetian back before it was Lagasse. That place is very nice but for me a little spendy. If you have the money, make your reservation now! It is top of the line all the way around, I think they have a book in there now and the year I went they pulled in some machines to take the action. Again, good food service and style. This is a nice place.

What do you guys think of $100-$150 for a ticket to the LVH party? This is a buffet free drink experience from what I hear and will be 2000 people or so.

The food at the Bali Hai SB party is usually from Casa D'Amore....a real good, old-time Vegas, Italian restaurant.....way off the Strip on Tropicana......depending on who you are with, food might also be a consideration......the game and large screens are the same everywhere, screaming and prop bets are the same also......

Crash, is the below true? I saw you posted it in another thread and am definitely intrigued. I am trying to organize a trip to Vegas. I have never been and would probably be going on a fairly strict budget....how far is downtown from the strip anyway? Thanks

This is true. There are many hotels for 25/night downtown but these are 25/night hotels- IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. I have used hotwire and priceline a ton if you need some help, give me a hollar and I will be happy to. Also look at www.betterbidding.com,this site rocks. Downtown is quite a ways from the strip but I think there is a bus that makes the trip, downtown has more transients and such but also has gaming and copious free drinks and easier comps. It is a lower level of Vegas but much much more affordable. I do not feel the same safety level downtown that I do on the Strip and am mindful of where I walk etc. I have never been in danger downtown but would advise staying away from dark alleys or side streets etc. This is just my feel of the place.

Crash I always go to the South Point with a big group for the SB (gotta pass this year as I am between jobs)...My group is usually 20 or so and I would get in line around 10 A.M. to get two choice tables. If you have a group of 8 or so you will need to get there by noon I would say if you want to all sit at one table

Thanks Crash, I appreciate it...I graduate from school in June and by then should have paid off most of this "legal run in" I had. So will probably be looking to go out there in the heart of Summer but I doubt I will be phased. I grew up in Houston and have been to Reno in the summer! I just looked up Excalibur and on their website I saw rates as low as 32 bucks a night which is MORE THAN REASONABLE. I will gladly fork over 7 extra bucks a night if it is that much more convenient...

I go to the Hilton SportsBook a Few Hours before the Game . Put in my bets then we usually get a Table at the bar . Its perfect for people watching and easy access for Drinks . The Atmosphere is great with people Cheering and Moaning when a Score happens . Its a Rush !!
