Yes, it's technically still in effect. Most nicer restaurants honor the law.
But as you mentioned, a lot of gaming bars and restaurants have completely ignored the ban and do what they please. It's not enforced either. Sucks for guys like me that don't smoke, but frequent these types of places.
Even though I don't smoke, I'm generally ok with it. I don't usually whine about people smoking. But it bothers me when I order food and someone sits down next to me puffing on a Marlboro when the place is supposed to be no smoking. Problem is, all the fucking bartenders smoke too, so they don't enforce it.
Smoking is unreal in Vegas, actually. I've never seen a city where soooo many people smoke. Seems like almost everyone does. And, they have absolutely no regard to littering as well. People actually smoke in their cars with the cigarette hanging out the window, so they don't smell up their car. Then, pull it in the window, puff, and hang their hang out the window again. This is repeated until the cigarette is finished, then they just drop it in the street. Shit pisses me off. Fucking morons.
I lived in Wyoming/Colorado area for 17 years before moving here. You NEVER see anyone throwing a cigarette out the window. Well, hardly ever anyway. So, when I moved here and saw this, I was thinking, are people that dumb. The answer is yes.
