You know on part of the strip they have those 1/2 off ticket show booths outside...whats the deal with those? Are they restricted shows and times?
If so whats a good way to get a deal on some of the popular shows?

All the above is true.
Some tickets will be 1/2 price, some a little more, some a little less. The only thing I will say, is that with a little work before your trip, you can find a lot of these same types of discounts online through Travelzoo or other websites with similar deals, or travel brochures and books scattered around LV. It is great, though, if you don't really have a plan for your trip and decide some morning that you want to see a show that night.

I have a friend who works in the "entertainment" dept at one of the MGM casinos.
"Tickets for tonight", is the best of these 1/2 price brokers they are located all over the city, one location is in the "coke" bottle near the m&m store near the mgm.
What you do is get a voucher for each ticket you need and then as someone stated in an earlier post you then head to the casino of the show you have and turn the vouchers into tickets.
10 AM is when they go onsale and if you can get to the theatre by 11 am for a 7pm show you should get very good seats.
The leg work you put into it is worth the savings.
Also try to stay away from the online ticket sales, ala orbitz, vegas.com , tripadvisor.
