I'll try and hit the high points.
Thursday - Flew out of local airport on direct flight to LV at 1:20pm, landing at 2:40 LV time. We have a group of 7 of us, 3 couples and 1 guy. I get comped at Harrahs so that's where we stayed. Got some $ down on the Ravens in time for the game, wish I would have skipped that. Ate at Toby Keith's inside Harrahs and watched the game there. Played some bj at the Flamingo after that (I know the 6:5 is terrible, but I put in a little time at the Harrahs properties to keep getting the comps for rooms and show tickets and stuff). Shut it down fairly early after losing a little at the bj table.
Friday - Ate at Planet Hollywood for lunch which was awesome. The girls wanted to learn how to play craps, so we spent some time watching and explaining at PH. Went down to O'sheas and won a bunch on the bj table. Placed a fairly large bet against my UNI Panthers playing Syracuse and that paid off that night. Friday night we went downtown to the Four Queens for a comedy show at the LA Comedy Club. The club has new touring comics in every week. For $33, you get a 2hr show plus all the booze you can drink. Not too bad of a deal. Caught 2 light/music shows on Fremont St as well. We went over to the El Cortez to play some $3 craps because the girls wanted to play for lower limits. It was a good time, but couldn’t get much going on the craps table.
Saturday – Went to McMullans pub over near The Orleans to watch the Iowa game with a bunch of other Hawks fans (pretty big disappointment in that game). Walked to the Orleans after that and watched a few of the other college football games. It was a good time. That night, just the girlfriend and I went to BB Kings Restaurant and Blues Club in the Mirage. That place was awesome, and I highly recommend it to anybody. Good food, and they have a live blues band playing. Makes for a great atmosphere. Watched the Mirage volcano show, caught the fountain show at the Bellagio and ended up at the Piano Bar at Harrahs.
Sunday – Went to the Hilton to watch football all day at the theater. Love the set up of the place, we always make it there for football or March Madness. Couldn’t get anything going betting games, though, so that took some of the fun out of it. A local, who we struck up some good conversation with, was given free wristbands for food and booze all day and he hooked us up with those. So our entire party of 7 was taken care of the whole 6+ hours we were there. Not a bad deal. Went to the Penn and Teller show Sunday night. Lots of fun, pretty entertaining, and the price was right with 2-4-1 tickets. Stopped at the KGB burger place in Harrahs after that and then hit the bed.
Monday – Took the free shuttle out to the Rio again to eat at the Carnival World buffet. Always enjoy that one, so we try to work it in when it fits. After that, the girlfriend wanted to play some bj, so we sat down and I lost my ass while she did fairly well. Such is the luck, I suppose. Went to Blondie’s in the Planet Hollywood shops for their $20, all you can drink special from 3-6pm. We stayed for the entire Monday night game. By the time the game was over, I was pretty much carrying the girlfriend back to the hotel (she believes in getting her $ worth for the free drink specials).
Tues- 5am to the airport. Flew through Dallas back to Iowa.
Overall a ton of fun.
