Decided to head out very last minute.  Decently priced plane ticket off of Priceline.  3 out 4 nights at MGM are comped.  Best friend coming out there for 2 days.  NCAA FB, NFL, NBA!  Have nowhere to be on Monday when I come home.  I'm so pumped!

Definitely didn't wimp out.  I would've given a trip report, but wasn't too pleased with the end result.  Got there Thursday night and rolled dice until 9AM.  Up $1900 after the first night!  I was on top of the world.  Well, I should've taken it easy the next 3 days b/c I gave it all back plus about $800 of my own.  CFB was horrible for me.  Needed ASU to win outright for a $700 parlay, and they lost by 1.  If you didn't see the game, they had a blocked extra point taken back for 2 points.  My Sooners got spanked by A&M, and I lost the first half line.

Other than that, went to Pure for the first time and it was a sausage fest.  Prefer Tao.  Balcony is a pretty cool vibe though, overlooking the strip.  Also tried out the infamous Ellis Island that I always hear about.  Definitely a great value.  $12.99 for prime rib, 2 sides, salad, and beer!?!?  Most people get the $8.99 sirloin meal, but I felt like prime rib that day.  Not the best prime rib in the world but for $12.99, you can't beat it.

Gambled at City Center for the first time ever.  Definitely a sweet hotel/casino.  Sportsbook is tiny though.  Also, the entrance is a bit off the strip, so they weren't jam packed with the casual gambler just walking by.  Might be a bad thing for them, if they don't start getting a huge following that makes them their destination.

Also, this is the first time I hung out in Vegas for any days by myself.  My buddy left after 2 days.  Kind of boring to be honest with you.  I was able to keep busy by gamblilng, but that obviously wasn't a good idea.  Probably won't go to Vegas alone in the future.  Overall, a fun time though.

Sounds like you had a great time and don't worry about the losses.  I figure that I come with what I can afford to lose and if I come back with any of it then I am up.  I go there to have fun and that is what I do.  BOL!

    Mike....

Just an observation....The sportsbook at Aria is not for the casual gambler....it was built/designed for the level of guest that stays at Aria and is highly comped due to table play...especially baccarat and some craps and blackjack.

These are the kind of gamblers whose wives/girlfriends receive giftcards $5000 and over to go shopping at City Center...

The City Center complex is, just now, starting to make some money....plans to demolish the last hotel, Harmon, prior to completion are underway....

The Cosmopolitan, due to open Dec 15th, owned by Deutsche Bank will have their sportsbook run by Cantor Gaming....that should be a great place for quality rooms/dining and gambling. It's location, adjacent to City Center/Bellagio is tremendous....

Good and very interesting info!  I walked though City Center in March of 2010 during the Mountain West basketball tourney and thought it was fun to window shop the high brow stores.  What you say makes complete sense, but I must say $5,000.00 likely will not get you far in those shops.  BOL!

Good insight.  Yeah, I think the location of City Center is great.  It's just that the place is so damn large, and takes forever just to get to Aria.  But then again, it takes forever to get anywhere in Vegas.  I actually went to Crystals shopping center to go buy pearls for my gf at Mikimoto.  I swear... every store in that place is way out of my price range.  I hope it continues to build steam.  It would be a shame to spend so much money on the complex and have it fail.  I think MGM needs to unload some of their properties to the south and focus on MGM and northwards.

    OG...

Rumors had it that when MGM sold TI, The Mirage would follow as a package....at the time it was MGM Mirage....6 months ago, the company changed it's name to MGM Resorts International; but still no sale of the Mirage.....

As far as "to the South".....Mandalay, Luxor and Excalibur would, IMHO, be sold as a package deal....and I cannot see MGM getting out of the "convention business" by selling Mandalay....

Crystals.....within 5 years....will be the #1 destination in North America for $$$ shopping....
