Book a vacation package at Southwest.com. I only book there. They have the best rates and it's nonstop from here. Beware of all MGM properties. They all charge a daily resort fee and you cannot get out of it. I would suggest a Harrahs property. They have NO resort fees. Planet Hollywood, Caesars of course. I'm actually staying at Flamingo this month with an upgraded room. Harrahs really isn't that bad either. THey have clean rooms and the casino is pretty good.

i'd go to Hotwire.com find the hotel with the highest star rating for the best price...i wouldn't fuck around with these shithole props like the flamingo, harrahs, luxor, etc. On hotwire if you book far enough in advance and you'll get a 4/5 star hotel for 70-150/night and you'll be staying @ Trump, Treasure Island, Venetian, Paris, Ceasars, Belagio, Wynn...don't worry that you can't see the name of the hotel...just make sure its a 4 or 5 star and you'll be set..book early and you can stay @ one of Vegas' finest properties for what it would cost to stay @ Bally's booking direct.

Ive heard bad things about luxor, i would try for mandalay bay or for a little less stay downtown, Cal, Main Street, Fremont . I stayed at the Cal last week and it was pretty good, bed was damn comfortable, service was good. For the strip though i would hit Mandalay, Mirage, Rio, or if ya wanna spend the money the Wynn. Good Luck

you have to decide what type of Vegas trip you want. I go once a year now but used to go twice a year in my 20's. I would do stuff unique to Vegas, you can go to a topless bar anywhere so I wouldn't waste my time. However you can go to a club anywhere but the clubs in Vegas are spectacular and just a different vibe. You can see a comedy show anywhere but spend the extra money on a big star you want to see that may only do Vegas.
I am a "strip snob" now, but when I was really into gambling I went to the station casinos around town where more locals go and much better odds. The odds have become increasingly worse on the stip to the point I barely gamble anymore other than a few hours. Beware the tables offering hand dealt black jack. They pay 6 to 5 odds on a black jack which is player unfriendly it will kill you even just in 2-3 hours of play.
breakfast buffet paris hotel-excellent crepes, fresh fruit, pastry
sportsbook casaers palace-best vibe for big event
poker mirage-best for newcomers, great staff
club-Pure Ceasars Palace
casino MGM numerous tables, good dealers, backup-Hard Rock for music and feel.
lunch/dinner-Pink Taco Hard Rock hotel/casino great margaritas, original/californian food.
best pool-Mandalay bay/Hard rock
Don't pressure the trip, decide what type of trip and focus on those activites.
