I will be moving to Vegas and pursuing sportsbetting as a full-time occupation. I was hoping you could anwser a couple of questions for me if you would be so kind as I see you have alot of knowledge about this stuff and are always comment in the Las Vegas forums. First, I would like to live in a nice apartment 15 mins or so from the strip and don't want much traffic when I go into the city. What are your suggestions for towns/areas (looking for a nice and safe area) to live in, I have heard that Henderson and Silverado Ranch are two good options. Additionaly, what casinos offer the best online betting or smartphone betting so that I dont always have to be running from sportsbook to sportsbook. Lastly, are comps something I should be worried about or expect to get if I am only betting on sports and if so what so I look for or expect? Any help or suggestions to these questions would be huge as it seems you are the premier person to ask about this kind of stuff. Thanks again man and I sent you a friend request as well.

Hey VegasGourmet,

As to apartments, Silverado Ranch is good; but I would drive an additional 5 minutes south on Las Vegas Blvd (toward The M) and check out great new apartments. Go to the website: Southblvdapts.com.....they are brand new and in between the SouthPointe and The M....first month rent free and nice flat-screen TV mounted in each living room. You are one block off of Las Vegas Blvd, 15 minutes to Mandalay Bay and easy access to all of new Henderson.
As to mobile apps....Cantor Gaming (which is "hubbed" at The M) and Leroy's (now acquired by the British bookmaking giant, William Hill) are the 2 smartphone apps that everyone must have. Stations Casinos has online (intranet) betting; but I do not recommend them.
I would honestly avoid the issue of comps....at least intially. Once you are settled and have established a solid relationship with Cantor Gaming, then you might want to approach Mike Colbert of Cantor and see if you can work out something.
Happy to answer anything else for you...but put them here so that others have the opportunity to read/learn also.

Jeff, I too am planning on moving to Vegas in November. I plan on openning an account at one of the Cantor sportsbooks and was wondering if you were going to that route. My concern is that if I open an account, Cantor will have a record of all my bets and if I'm winning or losing. If after 2 or 3 years they see I am making good money off them, will they let me keep playing or cancel my account?

What DOCUMENTED profits have you shown in the past. If you have never kept records and are going out cold your about a 50-1 dog. Before you burn your bankroll think it over. GL

Boys, I know there is a great chance I'll be back home or it won't work out. However I'm young and have no current responsibilites and therefore I am going to chase the dream. I appreciate everyones advice and opinions and all your answers LVGourmet. I'll definetly look into those two mobile apps and the apartments at the website you gave me. I had planned on line shopping around Vegas by going to the casinos but are you saying it would just be better to have those two mobile apps and a couple of offshores so that you dont have to be constantly running around to the casinos. Additionally, how does the funding and cash out processes work for these apps and do the only work on certain phones (currently have an Iphone)??? So excited for the move at the end of July, thanks again for everyones help!

I believe that android is the way to go....check their websites (Cantor and Leroy's) for that info.
Setting up a phone account is easy.....minimal deposits....just have to do it in person at one of their books so that they can take your info and program the phone for GPS tracking (you cannot use the phone outside of Nevada)....
Having 2 phone accounts and access to MGM MIrage and Caesars/Harrahs lines is really all you would need out here....an offshore can be usefull for prop-type bets that LV would not offer.

VG, I'm looking at an apartment complex that is a block west of The Palms. I like that I would be within walking distance of The Palms, Rio, and Gold Coast. And it fits within my budget which would be around $650 a month or less. How is this neighborhood?

i would look at Henderson area. As long as you got a mobile account, why even bother being close to the strip and paying more for less. Good luck and go for it man.

jwb......If the prices at South Blvd are within your budget, then you would be making a big mistake to look anywhere else.....
1. It's the area that you are interested in...as you mentioned
2. It is minutes to The M and to The SouthPointe and right off the Strip at the South end.....
3. There were (at the time of my inquiry) taking residents with only a credit check..NO deposit, and 1st month's rent free
4. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY....THEY ARE NEW....YOU WILL BE THE FIRST TENANT IN YOUR APARTMENT....Granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a FREE flat screen HDTV already mounted on the wall in your living room.
If the prices are too high for you, then tell me that and I'll try to help you with something cheaper.....
