Clearly you don't understand MMA.. Maia won because he took him down and passed many times in the first four rounds.. Had a deep choke attempt in the 4th and looked for some subs and landed some ground and pound in the 1st and 2nd.. Yes, he lost the 5th and he got deducted a point but he still had a 40-36 advantage after 4 rounds.. Yes it wasn't a sub or KO, but he still dominated him..

how is is it domination when he can't get the submission, if anything the one who defends it off is the victor.. anyone can try to submit, but if you can't do it you shouldn't get the win.

So by your logic, why would LaFlare be the winner?? He didn't KO or submit Maia.. Maia couldn't finish the submissions, but at the same time, LaFlare couldn't stop the takedowns.. So LaFlare "failed" at keeping the fight standing..

Again - So you're saying if you watched that fight at your local 7-11, you walk away saying "yeah, that bald guy won for sure"?
Fights are won by effective striking, effective grappling, aggression, and octagon control. Strikes include standing and ground strikes - Maia landed more strikes and more significant strikes. Grappling includes takedowns and Maia outgrappled LaFlare the entire fight besides the 5th. Aggression includes trying to finish (sub attempts), improving position (guard passes), takedowns, and effective striking. Octagon control means who decides where the fight goes - Maia clearly able to do that with his TDs.
In other sports, defense only wins if it sets up scoring opportunities. LaFlare didn't score enough.
I'm sorry you lost $10. Only 2 hours of work this week and you'll have it back.

The use of "their" is possessive. There is some money on the table. It's their money. They're making money.
Why don't you agree with the decision? Honest inquiry. I had LaFlare too, and knew I was on the losing side in the middle of round 3. If I had never seen mma, I'd know he lost. For 4 out of 5 rounds, he was getting a slight advantage on the feet for about a minute, taken down, and then defending strikes and sub attempts for four minutes.
If it was American football, it was akin to giving up only field goals for 50 minutes and then scoring a touchdown with two minutes left and losing 18-7. Good defense, not enough scoring.

I had him losing after the first TD!!! Then just wait 22:30 minutes to make it official, lol
I was hoping LaFlare would change it up a bit, lower the stance and stuff a few takedowns. That would've gotten Maia to gas. I thought Hooft was dumb to instruct LaFlare to pressure him so aggressively between 2 and 3. Every time Ryan stepped forward to throw his combo, Maia would dip under and land a takedown.
I would've had Ryan stand in the middle and make Maia come forward....just working counters and TDD. Occasionally, feint a front-step combo to try to lure a takedown attempt. And honestly, that probably would've been an even more boring fight.

Never had a clue, let a old man whip him at his own game, lol. Interesting to see who these two guys face next.
I think they give LaFlare a guy like Mein or Thatch. Maybe Gunnar?
Maia is in an odd position. Above him are: Robbie and Rory, who are fighting; Hendricks and Tyron, who I think they'll match for the next shot; and Brown, who's coming off a loss and Maia could take him down and submit 2-4 times a round. That's a horrible match-up for Brown. Someone mentioned, if Benson wants to come up again, that he may be a good match for Maia. The other one is Condit. That may be an ugly comeback for NBK, but it's probably the one I prefer. It'll show where Carlos is quickly and he said he'll be ready at the beginning of summer.

Condit has Alves next. Make Brown vs. Maia a 5 rounder and we will see what line they have for that fight.
