i think it made a lot of sense for him to drink all the water the day before weigh ins, that way on the day of the weigh ins, you can sweat out all that water and go pee all day.
you keep repeating the cycle every single day during the week so that your body gets used to it, except on the day of the weigh ins, you don't actually drink or eat anything because you have already "tricked" your body during the week into thinking that you are going to drink some water even though you are sweating and going to pee.

machida is such a tricky fighter. this fight to me is 50-50 with machida at +170 but i know that he has a real chance at getting the belt tonight even if weidman didn't end up really having any problems cutting weight. i also know that weidman has a really good chance of winning too because machida fights have too many bullshit decisions that happen. sometimes it goes his way, sometimes it does not.
The one thing i would say is i don't think machida will get submitted. i know he got choked out by jon jones but to me that's a special case scenario. the only time that machida will get submitted is from getting hurt from a strike. You know how when urijah faber gets a knockdown he doesn't go for the knockout on the ground, instead he uses the time to sink in a choke before the guy can recover? i can see weidman doing something like this since he's so good at submissions.
the bottom line is that i don't have any confidence putting money on anything in this fight. i will definitely enjoy the fight though so good luck if you're betting on machida.
