Urijah
is at the peak of his abilities, he has one maybe two more years before
he starts to plateu and than inevatbly his skills and reflexes will
decline. Now is the time for him, and that reason alone gives me pause
in my pick. Here are a points that have me leaning Renan.
1)
Diversity - While Barao will throw everything and the kitchen sink at
you standing, Faber is more of a one trick pony, using his overhand
right to either drop you or close the distance for his take-downs. This
won't work against a fighting with sky high fight IQ such as Barao. It's
going to need to be 2, 3, 4 punch combos to truly get Barao backing up
and thinking about Fabers Hands, this is easier said than done however
as the champ has excellent foot work and the aforementioned fight IQ.

2) History – While Faber had his
moments he never truly threatened the champ in their first encounter, at
only 26!!! One has to think the champ is only getting better,
especially training daily with the likes of Jose Aldo and the rest of
the killers at Nova Uniao, not to mention BJ Penn has been training
there recently, it can’t hurt to have one of the best ever around. Prediction - Barao keeps his belt in a close split decision.

Jose Aldo
vs.
Ricardo Lamas Co-Main Event | Title Fight | Featherweight | 145 lbs (65.8 kg)
I was trying really hard to come up with scenarios where Lamas wins.
1) Aldo hurts himself again and resorts to wrestling and gasses himself or loses the wrestling battle to Lamas who was a division III wrestler in college.
2) Aldo gasses in the 3rd, 4th, 5th rounds and lamas takes over.
3) Lamas becomes the first man in the WEC/UFC to finish Aldo (LOL YA RIGHT)
Basically it all boils down to Aldo fading late, I have a feeling an Aldo KO is more likely than him gassing.
Prediction - Aldo via KO round 2.

Sure do love me some Dagestanians! Easily the toughest dudes on earth.
Even though Lineker seems to perform alright coming in like 10lbs overweight I'd still wait until weight ins to see if he makes it or not this time and how he looks. Lineker has not been to the third round in 4 of his last 5 fights so dragging this one into the third might be part of Dagestanian's game-plan. Prediction - I don't pick against em so Bagautinov via submission round 3.

If the Trujilo who showed up in the 1st Roger Bowling fight shows up Varner probably wrecks him, if the Trujillo from the 2nd fight shows up I think Trujillo steals a decision. Prediction - Trujillo via UD.

LOL, my first larger parlay I played was yesterday... before all the forum noise began... was a ML Par of Barao/Aldo/Reem. It is the squarest of plays but I cannot see it losing. Of course, anything can happen but without that:
Lamas is not beating Aldo...Jose is special...a natural MMA fighter with instinct and trains with Baroa in Brazil at the camp of champions. Can you imagine what kind of talent Aldo spars with in training?
Reem has recently been losing fights that he was winning. But every time Mir goes up against a banger he gets mauled and punished. Except that quick heel hook with Brock.
Well, that is what Reem does well plus Reem has maybe the best knees of any UFC heavyweight in history. Mir has been hurt by knees several times recently. Reem's Muy Tai is amazing for a big man.
That leaves Baroa. It is a shame that Faber's only losses have been for the belt. and if he wins then I lost. But Baroa is toooo quick. Lightening quick with balance in both hands and amazing leg work. He is just too good for Faber. Despite Faber's heart, he will be a half step slow all night, imo.
BOL all

Patrick will be three inches taller and will hold a 6 inch reach advantage over the 5'8 Makdessi (drop down to 145 already?) but that's all I really know about him. His quick knockout of Garret Whittley (who?) didn't show me very much and I can't be bothered to look up footage. One would think Patrick would be looking to take Makdessi down as John is one of the best pure strikers in the division, throw in Patrick's size advantage and it would just be straight silly to fight in Makdessi's wheel house. Can Makdessi stop the take-down attempts if they are attempted? I have no fu$%ing idea.

Chris Cariaso
vs.
Danny Martinez Preliminary Card | Flyweight | 125 lbs (56.7 kg) Martinez has fought some tough dudes....and lost to said tough dudes. Cariaso is a bit above gatekeep status at 125 and a pretty tough dude himself, bad first fight for Martinez..then again is there ever really a "good" one in the UFC?. Blind pick go!
Prediction - Cariaso via UD.

I hate Watson, maybe it's because he is British, or maybe because all he does is sloppy boxing, either way he has some of the worst take-down defense in the divis....scratch that in the whole UFC. Catone is nothing special but his take-downs are well above average and he knows what he is good at. He has solid BJJ (brown belt) and is one of the more decorated wrestlers at 185. Catone was a three time Division 1 national qualifier, a 2 time Division 1 Conference Champion and sports over 100 Division 1 career wins.
Prediciton - It might not be pretty but Catone via UD.

Al Iaquinta
vs.
Kevin Lee Preliminary Card | Lightweight | 155 lbs (70.3 kg) Ryan Couture....Piotr Hallmann.....Kevin Lee?
This seems like a weird match up to me, I'm pretty high on Iaquinta...maybe this Kevin Lee kid is really good. Either way I've never seen him fight and I don't have time to youtube...sooooo
Prediction - Iaquinta via UD.

Neil Magny
vs.
Gasan Umalatov Preliminary Card | Welterweight | 170 lbs (77.1 kg) When in doubt pick the Russian fighter that grew up in Astrakhan, Russia (super close to Dagestan, which is a small southern republic of Russia)
Prediction - Gasan via submission round 2?
