Chris Weidman is not a proven champion. If you look at the line-up of fighters he has fought in his career. It's no one even worth mentioning. He earned a title shot after beating UFCs most recent punching bag in Mark Munoz. Weidman got the W against silva twice, which looks great on paper, but the way he won these fights he has yet to prove anything. The Machida fight is going to be an extremely difficult fight for Weidman with Machidas takedown defense and if its left standing Machida will run circles around him on his feet. I just think Machida is on a whole other level than Weidman. Weidman may be great one day, but he became champ way too early and it will show in this next fight. Line is around +160 right now but I actually think public may be on the favorite in Weidman, so I would wait it out and try to get it at +190 or more come fight night.

I agree. Machida is the play and i have to imagine that any educated fight fan will be hammering him for the win. The dragon has fought the who's who of the UFC and weidman on the other hand had 2 fights gift wrapped against an aging silva. Machida will not stand in front of him, blow kisses with his hands at his waist. Give me machida all day long.

i think chris weidman is definitely for real but lyoto machida is just a very bad matchup for him.
machida made a mistake against the 84.5 reach of jon jones that's best suited for use on choking people out let alone against the fence. For me if someone has been submitted once, it can happen again no matter how good a grappling game machida can have but i'll make this a special case.
i highly doubt that machida will allow himself into any danger when it comes to submissions, especially since he's been working with the gracie brothers lately.
it's going to all come down to the tricky striking of machida, going in and out and moving all over the octagon. I think there is a high probability there will be a controversial decision, split or otherwise. +120 what i see on 5dimes right now that the fight goes to distance, i think that's a good bet.

I agree, he's definitely for a real, but I can't get around the fact that he got a somewhat free pass twice vs Silva. I'm really looking forward to it. I have to think Machida has a speed advantage - But that might be his only advantage

Machida way too prissy and lacks the pressure to beat Weidman. If weidman tires, Machida lets him off the hook with inactivity. Dan Henderson nearly beat Machida. Never forget that.

forget?
you mean the same henderson that was coming off 205 wins over feijao, hw fedor and rua?
the same hendo that arguably beat rashad who would absolutely fuking wreck the never-been-over three-rounds185 chris weidman?
the same weidman whose coming off meniscus surgery three months ago and looked absolutley gassed in the third round against demian(weidman did take the fight on short notice)?
this is the same argument that we had four months ago when only a few people like myself gave lawler a chance against johhny because of his dismal record at 185 when that shouldve never been factored into handicapping because hendricks in all likelihood wouldve fared no better.

unlike your invaluable contribution to this thread i am pointing out that hendo nearly beating machida, at 205, is nothing for lyoto to be ashamed about and one would have to be dumb to discredit that win
like i preciously mentioned, after the machida hendo then went on to lose a split decision four months later to lhw rashad where the second and deciding round couldve been judged either way for the winner
that evans today would probably be a -300 at 205 against the 185 weidman

since youre pretty clueless(seriously, making prop bets as single plays on silva sub brown, rousey not to sub davis) when most cappers in the fight game bet them as action plays(floyd decision notwithstanding) let me give you reasoning on how to bet this fight sine you have nothing to contribute
all of weidmans stoppages are in the first seven minutes of the fight. there is a good chance that if lyoto makes it out of the first round and a half he is going to finish the fight as weidmans non-stoppage fights have all gone the three rounds
machida generally concedes the first round as he is mainly a counter puncher who needs to time fighters and guage distance.
chris has shown to gas against top competition in maia(although he took the fight on short notice) and is coming off meniscus surgery just three months ago.
machida is a proven five round fighter at both 205 and 185 against top compeitition and has shown zero decline at 36 years of age
the chances of weidman winning the first round is greater than machida and the chances of a weidman stoppage in the first round is greater than a machida stoppage
a good capper knowing this would probably believe that the best and safest bet here is to in-play machida at hopefully +220 or so after he loses the first round as after the third round, if the fight is close to even on the cards, machida will now be the favorite as the proven five round fighter.
now, are you going to add something to this discussion or is there something wrong with you?

if i made a $5.00 bet to win $90.00 the last thing i would do is post about it on covers
come to think about it i wouldnt even make a $5.00 bet as my online book would probably freeze my account and put me through three days of security checks thinking that some kid in his moms basement hacked my account

neither are people that start threads talking about a $5.00 bet they made that pays $90.00 as it was some major accomplishment in their life

I have to agree with Nick's original comments, fwiw.
Beating Silva was a great achievement but knocking out anyone with his hands at his waist cannot be given too much credit. Weidman has an age advantage. But Lyoto is maybe at the peak of his game right now.
How focused do you think Machida will be for this fight? How many more title shots does Machida think he will get in his career at 36?
Machida pure value play, imo. Problem is that I am looking at a list of MMA cappers I respect that are on the other side.

so out of all the threads that you decided to look under my account you picked the $5 one? you missed the one where i talk about how small my peniis is. used to be in general discussion but when the new takeover happened, the moderators placed it in the penalty box and now it's buried in the sand somewhere.
if you ever find it Qncyk1, i guarantee you that you're going to say to yourself "damn well my diick is bigger than TheCrow's too!"

I'm so excited for this fight because I'm a huge Weidman fan and very few people are giving him credit. I feel he got more credit as "the man who could finally beat Silva" before their first matchup than "the champ who got 2 fluke wins and isn't deserving" afterwards. I swear if this one ends in a questionable fashion I would be PISSSED. That middleweight division is no joke but I just hope the title stays in an American's hands because if it goes back to a Brazilian than I would hate to see them always try to defend at home (for reasons like Vitor and his TRT crap).
Should be a good one. Can't put money on it but I'll be rooting for Weidman.
