Spring Training 2021 I suck, but, as Ernest Hemingway said “The Sun Also Rises”
to the Old Man And The Sea, In Our Time, The Sun Also Rises For Whom The Bell Tolls, and with your bets, although it's True At First Light, after 5 innings during The Torrents Of Spring it looks like you're a winner at first but in the end it's always Winner Take Nothing and The Undefeated for today In Another Country, will not be able to tell you as much as Sac or Hemingway On Fishing.
"Sac" being the only capitalized word above not part of a Hemingway book title.

I bet they did not wear them when you were in High School, not when I went and I do not claim to be any kind of QB, I was only there if Steve needed a moment or God Forbid he got hurt, his Dad was also the QB for same high school, he had his Son throwing a football when he was 3 I would guess.Lucky for me he had to be tuff to live up to his Dad who actually worked with my Dad at Dow and since Steve followed his Dad as QB he got to retire from Dow also, so no where do I claim to be a QB, I would not of picked me as a back up but the Coach did so 1 year I suffered thru.

It is comforting to know that more than a couple guys in this thread can read above the fourth grade level. Even sac read some Hemingway, but of course it had to have something to do with fish. Spencer Tracy was great in that movie, but with no human dialogue it did have moments where it drug it's feet.
Some of us can remember the book that really turned us on to reading. For me it was The Count of Monte Cristo. Before that I was a good reader, but not avid about it. What turned you on?

@barneybeans You did not have to explain yourself at all, I just saw on your perfect day that you won 12 units which was where the comment came from, your way is much better than most on covers and you mention it yourself, a 5 unit for some of these guys is 5 times a normal bet which makes it very hard to win money, I do it like you where I will raise a bet by x amount if I like it. But my normal bets was about half of yours since being laid off and that being that after Trump quit doing anything about virus I had to use my bank on bills and it has become an fund now when needed. @undermysac So I thought Det.was a loser after 7 but they went 9 so the bet was cancelled at 1-1, now I just need my Giants to beat up on what could be my Padres unless my Dodgers run away with it since we spent a billion on payroll. So what or how do you know the amount of innings they are going to play? ANYONE?
no rhyme or reason JEG, which is why I'm shocked everyone is doing so well. lets keep it rolling

The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis, granted, a book for kids, I was maybe 11 give or take, but that was the book that opened my mind's eye. The book and my age at that time were in perfect synch, it was magical, no pun intended, it brought me somewhere I never knew existed, and from then on I never looked back, stopped watching TV.
Everyone is born with a mind's eye, even the blind. If the artist of your mind's eye is a Rembrandt you will read forever, still enjoy TV and movies but neither will compare to a great book.
Greinke going against DeGrom tomorrow.
Mets a dog, fishy line, must be going 9 innings.

Sorry to hear you were laid off.
My avg MLB reg season bet will be $100. Meaning my 1U(that I hardly ever play) is $33.33.
My 3U Spring Training is $50 meaning my 1U is $16.66
The numbers in my original post for each sport's 1U amount were hypothetical.
If my season starts to suck I'll adjust down on what each 1U is worth. If I'm in a groove I'll scale up the 1U. The 1U-6U range on a play here on Covers illustrates my strength of play regardless of bankroll performance or the 1U size at the time.
I rarely adjust what each unit is worth, maybe after ASB or for the playoffs. But if my season still sucks I'll halve what the 1U is worth and if my plays still suck after that I will bow out of the season, like the 2019 and 2018 MLB seasons.
But on Covers you won't know because I'll still be posting as 3U
Sorry to clutter the board with this but money management and bet size but that means almost as much as picking games.
Stuckey from Action Network has brought me back to ML parlay favs in NCAAB. A common technique a mentor of mine used to always do back in the day for MLB. I'm thinking about putting more of those in my regular season repertoire.
Any thoughts on that?
Good night!

The lines being put out still have me scratching my head. We are getting to the point where I'm starting to pause, asking myself "what do they know that we don't?" Barney thinks the Mets line is "fishy".
I say screw it, can't think like that. The bookies dart throw on a line are as good as our dart throws on our bets.
The Twins relievers have recorded a 2.48 whip this spring, worst of all. The BoSox have recorded the best OPS this spring, best of all.
Ryan Weber might be rough at times, and Pineda is on the up n up and most know his name. But they'll get 2 to 3 innings apiece, and the rest of the men platooning afterwards hold a considerable edge for the BoSox.

maybe yes, maybe no. I say that just based on DeGrom vs Greinke, both only going 3 max. There's no lineup yet for the Mets so, not sure how there can even be a real line on some of these games.
But just DeGrom vs Greinke I would think DeGrom(for only3 innings) would be much higher on that initial line.
Just what I was thinking when the lines came out.

@barneybeans I may back Miami here. Corbin is getting long in the tooth, steadily regressing the last 3 years. Did you know, he allowed a .308 BA last year? I don't think he could hold a candle to Sandy Alcantara. Just tell that to the average joe public bettor.
Corbin might not pitch not than 2 innings, against:
Jazz Chisholm batting 7th. How could anyone back MIA today?
Just kidding.

Try..."how can there be a real line on ALL of these games?!"
It's probably why we are doing so well. And we have done well on Spring Training in the past.
With that said, I'll put my foot in my mouth, knock on wood, make sure to not step on any cracks, and avoid walking under a ladder.
