5 Inning Discussion Thread - WS Game #1 - 10.28.09

Question

Best time of the year. Have always loved October with the MLB playoffs, football at mid season and the NBA opening up, with college buckets right around the corner. We now have baseball and basketball overlapping Spring and Fall both. I suppose some day even college buckets will overlap but that is still a long way off. This is a great era to be alive! Cya later with something about the game! Contributions?

GL Key.&#xD;&#xA;I like the over for 5 innings.  3.5 (-115).  These teams hit the long ball and it really only takes one to push this over.  Both starters have been pitching well but it is the world series.  &#xD;&#xA;Plus, I much prefer watching if they are knocking it around a bit!!

Leaning toward under 4 in first five here. Both pitchers are on point right now and have been holding the other team down to very few hits. I think they can hold each other down to maybe a run or two until the bullpens come in around the 6th or 7th inning.

"IF" both pitchers are spot on and we end the 5th with a 0-0 tie or 1-1, then the best play would be:

Philly Spread +½ -105 for 1st 5 Innings This game one is a tough one to figure out.

I feel like its that bottom of the 5th inning that most of the time always makes or breaks the o/u 1st 5 inning bets. I was a huge fan of the 1st 5 inn o/u bets. Then I started noticing I was losing a lot of them in that Bottom of the 5th inning. If it is 4 I lean under if its 3.5 it is tough not to go with the over. I think you're looking at a 0-0 or 1-0 or 1-1 game going into the 4th and 5th inning then you got the meat of you lineups getting that 2nd look and that is where it depends on the confidence in the pitchers and the adjustments from the hitters that makes or breaks those bets.. Baseball history though suggests&#xD;&#xA;favorites win about 57% of all games and the margin is much narrower when good&#xD;&#xA;teams play good teams. At &#x2B;155 we need only a 39.2% chance of winning to make&#xD;&#xA;the break even point and I see it much closer than that.

Afternoon, KEY,,,,,,,,,,,,WORLD SERIES&#xD;&#xA;Well we have two very good SP today going at it,,so i&#x27;m on the Under in 5 &#xD;&#xA;FUNNY both Phils and Yanks are counting on X  CLEVELAND starters on winning a game for these two power houses,,,doesn&#x27;t say much for inhouse pitchers,,,,think they both need bigger funds to support their needs,,,,,,&#xD;&#xA;All the NYY fan base is on the NYY and Philly fan base likewise on Phils,,,both bragging on their assets,,,,,,Howard vs A Rod,,,,Rivera vs Lidge,,etc,,,,,&#xD;&#xA;The big QUESTION will be,,,,,,will the phils be far enough ahead prior to their closers comming into the game as it appears all the talk is over the relievers on both sides&#xD;&#xA;I will refer all that discussion to others for the late innings where upon i will be thru with this game as i will continue to play my 5 inning plays that i have been doing all year.&#xD;&#xA;Gutt feeling Phils in 9 with Plus money as these guys never stop comming and although Rivera is very good he rarely pitches more than one inning i believe,,,,,,,,ps Chamberlain is due to explode just a matter of time,,,,,,and the balance of relievers on both sides are very QUESTIONABLE,,,,,,,,,&#xD;&#xA;BOL to all ,,,,,,all i want is the UNDER in 5,,,,,,,
