15-4, +1,273.80 in 7 days is a heck of a run, but that does not mean it has to end. There is no way to know when streaks will end and the only way to protect it is to be very, very careful. People that press or think they are playing with “house money” usually find the end of the streak sooner than those that go conservative. JMHO.

Phillies -.5, +115 (Cobb / Lee)
The Rays are still my pick to win the A.L. East but they sure need to get healthy. They have gone about as far and as long as they can on outstanding pitching and offense that depends on who is hot today. There is no better cripple shooter in MLB than Cliff Lee and he won’t fool around today. Watch him. First strike on every batter and first man out every inning. OBP baseball does not work on Cliff Lee. Meanwhile the Phillies offense is coming around, with a 5.94 median era their last 15 versus righty starters. They have a hell of a hill to climb to get back into the race, but it is too early to count out a team of veterans with that pitching staff.

Athletics +135, (Cain / McCarthy)
Cain is Cain, outstanding home or away, but undefeatable? No, that’s just not true and the better the opponent pitcher and offense, the higher the probability he can be had. The A’s have surrendered nothing as far as giving in and still lead MLB over the course of the last 15 games versus righty with a 7.92 median offensive era, even better than when the series started. There is no quit in this team and the game is a tossup, but the A’s pay 136 cents on the dollar and the Giants pay 68.5, just a touch over 50% for the very same dollar of risk.
Cubs-Diamondbacks, Under 8.5, -109, (Garza / Miley)
Miley versus the Cubs offense is a case of a man versus a boy. One of the best lefties in the major leagues this year versus the worst offense in MLB by any standard of measurement, and even worse and more futile versus lefties. They don’t hit, they don’t score, and they don’t act like they even care. If the name on the shirt was Cliff Lee or Cole Hamels or Clayton Kershaw and he was at home the line would be well over -200. Garza is equally solid and we know the Diamondbacks don’t hit every day either, and with Scott Barry behind the plate and the roof closed we really have the potential of a very low scoring game here, even by Chase Field standards.
Phillies -121 (Cobb / Lee)
You know the drill. See above.
