A's acquire SS Jed Lowrie and Right handed reliever fernando rodriguez
Astros get 1B Chris Carter, RHP Brad Peacock and catcher Max Stassi
Interesting move by Billy Beane Lowrie is a SS that slugs 400 that is good. he had 16HR LY good plate selection
Rodriguez was 2-10 LY with an ERA of 5.37 71 games 70.1 ip 34BB 78K.
Astros get Carter who hit 16 HR in 218 ab. Peacock was in the Gio Gonzalez trade LY. As a matter of fact AJ Cole and Peacock who were in the gio trade have been traded again this offseason
I like it from both sides i assume either Lowrie or Nakajima will play 2B. Houston gets a middle of the order bat in Carter. What say you guys

It is a deal that makes sense from both sides, although middle infielders with pop don't grow on tree so I like the deal a bit more from the A's perspective. They get two straighten out their 2nd base position, which was a glaring weakness and dealt a guy in Carter who was really a spare part. Wille interesting to see mowne performs as a everyday player and having net short porch in Houston to swing at 81 games. A's get a potentially nice bullpen arm to add to their already strong pen and the Astros get a couple of guys who might help in the future. Since they have no shot now this deal does make some sense for them too.

Don't quite get why people are ragging on Houston for making this trade. The team is years away from anything but last in the division and they need to rebuild. Lowrie is a fine player but he's certainly not someone that your going to build around.
