David Buchanan (0-4, 7.52 ERA) vs Tim Cooney (rookie)
While Buchanan doesn't sport that great of a record period at 24-24 (4.30 ERA) lifetime, he has fared well against the Cardinals in the past. In 12.2 innings pitched over 2 games, he has surrendered 12 hits but only 3 runs, 3 walks, 4 SO, 1 HR all in 195 pitches. Against Cards members still on the team, they only hit .214 vs him with only Matt Carpenter (.500 3 of 6) and Yadier Molina (.333 1 of 3) the only guys hitting above .200 against him.
Tim Cooney has been pretty good in the minors but even in the minors over the past 2 years he has pitched 175.1 innings and gave up 75 runs (23 HR) on 173 hits and walked 52 batters but did get 133 SO while batters hit .252 off him. He lacks speed on his fastball only clocking 88-90 tops. He is also a lefty facing a heavy lefty batting team.
Seriously loving the +170 value on the Phillies in this game although the Cards are definitely the better team.

I'm on the other side of this one. Cardinals are one of the best teams in the MLB. Phillies are one of the worst. Buchanan has been their worst pitcher this year, it's as simple as that.

Smart way to look at it if they were playing Major League Stats at the FedEx/Kinkos stationary store today.

LOL, pretty much what I was thinking. Dude obviously didn't even read what I had posted. Sometimes a pitcher just has your number and Buchanan, although he wasn't a good pitcher last season nor so far this season, has performed really well against the Cards.

Thanks everybody, I'm still considering this although I know the Cards are the better team and are very good during day games.
One thing I have noticed over the years is when covers.com shows their top consensus in baseball games, quite often, that team doesn't win. ATM, the Cardinals are #2 and #1 on MLB with 69.14% consensus.
Also just read that the Phillies hit .291 vs the last 7 lefties they have faced. Phillies have a legitimate shot today on some big plus money.

This thread is hilarious. So many funny posts. You guys were all POSITIVE the Phillies were going to win. This "dude" definitely read your post, I just didn't agree with any of it.
