Great win on the Astros last night as the game played out exactly as expected and they gave us an easy W.
Tonight's game should be a very entertaining one. At first glance it would be easy to take the Cubs due to Arietta's dominance during the second half of the season. However this is not the regular season any more and tonight is a whole new ballgame. Often times when betting baseball we put too much stock in the starting pitching matchups. Not to say that they aren't an important factor but more often than not it just isn't that simple to look at the pitching matchup and pick a winner. The Pirates are a very solid team that did not put up 98 wins by accident. This team has tasted the post season recently and I believe they are very focused to advance. While the Cubs may have more talent on paper I believe the Pirates are the better and more seasoned team in this case. Not too mention Gerrit Cole is no slouch himself. I think pitching at home will calm him down and allow him to get into nice rhythm tonight.
While this is not a huge play for me the Pirates are as live a dog as you can get. With home field and their ace on the hill I will take my chances with them against a lesser experienced Cub team that may not be ready to take the next step just yet.

This one is much more of a coin flip then last night.
Cole is 8-1 all time against the Cubs while Arietta has a 0.75 ERA against the Buccos this season. Whatever team can grind out a couple of runs will likely win.
