Detroit Vs. Houston G2

Looking to win today 

Today, we aim to hit the same target in Houston. Detroit has found success this year and it has A LOT to do with their abilities on the mound. Unfortunately for Detroit, The Astro’s have the better pitcher clocking in for today’s game. For Detroit, Holton enters today’s game with a 2.13 as a reliever. The Astros give Hunter Brown the nod with his 3.49 ERA. The difference between the two is not just the ERA. It’s how it was obtained. Hunter Brown, IMO has seen more situations, stayed on the mound longer per game and Brown has an offense behind him that should get the early lead, which will give Brown some extra confidence. 

The total is currently sitting at 7.5 and I think that makes sense. I do see this game score being at 8 runs.

 Could be. But this is post season ball. For all we know right now, Detroit could be the sucker play. We’re not playing big cash, so risks are ok to take. Come back and rap to me when the games over. If I’m wrong, I’ve been known to admit my Failure on this forum. But I truly see Astros gaining ground early. I might even take Astros F5. Confidence kills, so does taking risks. That’s why the reward matters.

I believe Holton will only be used in the first inning (left handed pitcher) to face Tucker and Alvarez (who both bat left-handed). He has started 9 games this year and usually only lasts an inning. Holton does have just a 1.19 ERA in these first inning nine starts. The Tigers refer to this type of pitching format as "Chaos Pitching" and they have done it the entire second half of the season. It's basically throwing the kitchen sink at people and not knowing who is pitching next. It's worked for them.

I'm not saying the Astros lose at all. I'm just making the point that it is hard to compare pitchers when one is only going to pitch probably one inning.

 My point is that they cannot be compared. As I said, Hunter spends a lot more time on mound which explains the ERA difference. I do agree with you.
