Does Bob Costa Talk Too Much?

Used to like him, then he became a political voice. Loved  Keith Hernandez comment last week when Announcer said great catch by the ball person, and Keith said that’s a ball girl I’m not giving into that crap

MLB package for quite a few years had an audio option: "Stadium" which was a mic somewhere high up in the stands. No announcers, it was as if you were at the game. The video feed was still the same with the count and everything. I cried when they got rid of that.

But I like to hear the crack of the bat and the crowd reactions. So I turn up the sound. Some announcers in some games are actually quiet when there is not much to say. I like those types.

He is a legend.

I really used to like Costas a lot as an announcer.  His voice is fine and his commentary was engaging and he brought up good points.  Now, like everyone else, he talks wayyyy too much.

But that's everyone now.  Can't have "dead air"

 I remember that, it was great! 

I actually didn't mind Joe Buck as a baseball announcer simply because he was so obviously bored that he barely talked.  But when a crucial or exciting play happened he was equally as bored so any great moments didn't get the great commentary they deserved.

I grew up with Harry Kalas and "Whitey" Richie Ashburn for the Phillies, imo never a better duo to call a game
