So first it was the Golden State Warriors that left the badly outdated multiplex and moved to San Francisco, then the Raiders went to Las Vegas and now the Athletics will play in the temporary triple A ball park in Sacramento for 3 years until their stadium in Las Vegas will be ready.
It will certainly be an emotional day for some as the 3rd of the 3 historic and championship franchises will have vacated in the last 5 years.
Not sure how significant this will be as the A's have had crappy attendance for decades

I would imagine it's going to be very emotional for the old timer fans.
Maybe a dumb question, but why did the Raiders & A's move out of Oakland?
Bet with your wallet, not your heart

That stadium has been in dire need of repairs for some time and the city doesn't want to pay for a new stadium. They had sewage problems causing games to be postponed. Better for everyone to move the team.

My mother was a city council member in her town from 2004-08.
Everyone asked for more services and expanded park hours, a new pool there, a new fire house, police station , sidewalks etc.
I remember going to a City Council meeting and she told the community resident who was peppering her and the mayor that 'maybe we need to raise the personal property tax ' 1 -3cents.
The resident, looking dumbfounded shut up.
And mom got all those things done.
My point is that this was a Failure of Ownership, and the local leadership, mayor and business community.
Where the hell was Marc Benioff, the Salesforce guy, the Sand Hill Rd VC community- kleinerperkins .
Reggie Jackson had an owner group in place and Bud Selig never returned his call.
Dave Stewart too.
Sad

They needed a new ballpark and the residents didn't want to foot the bill and the ownership didn't want to pay for it without getting government money so they moved. It's usually how it is but in Oakland it's more pronounced my guess is because San Francisco is across the bay that team loyalty is not as strong. Sports fans in Oakland can still go see the 49ers, Giants and Warriors in San Francisco without much trouble and I'm sure many Raiders fans have now transitioned to being Niner fans and Warriors never really left the area so there isn't much lost for them

Not a done Deal....3 years sharing a stadium w/ the River Cats? Will be interesting? MLB owners should be furious that it is going down like this? Revenue Sharing? Fisher will be RAKING it in!! Since he would have the LOWEST earning team after this season. Hand OUT for three years! Must be NICE getting Charity money!

Stadium is in such disarray that the seats in some sections have not been bolted down for years....this is an atrocious stadium and I am surprised it has not collapsed....it's so nimble that they won't need dynamite to blow it up but rather only one firecracker and a tic tac from CVS to do so
COVERS allows u to tell someone they are sexually frustrated so long as ur hands are clean

Nobody is going to do business in Oakland. Allegiant Stadium is #2 in NFL revenue. Big Al knew a long time ago those shit bird city officials would run Oaktown to the ground. He was spot on. Thank you, As +145, for the memories
