Although Los Angeles had its seven-game winning streak snapped in an extra-innings loss at Arizona on Wednesday, the Dodgers have been on fire. The last time Los Angeles dropped a series came at San Francisco in late April, as the Dodgers begin a three-game weekend series with the rival Giants tonight. The Dodgers have won five consecutive road series openers with the last loss coming to the Giants, 3-2 on April 29.
Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for the Dodgers in the opener as Los Angeles has won all nine of the ace’s starts this season and 17 consecutive regular season outings since 2018. Kershaw has not faced the Giants this season, as Los Angeles went 2-2 in his four starts against San Francisco last season. Both victories came at Oracle Park, as the last regular season road loss suffered by the Dodgers with the Cy Young winner on the mound came at Oakland last August in a 3-2 setback.
Coldest team: Mariners (3-14 last 17 games)
That 13-2 start by Seattle seems like years ago at this point as the Mariners own a startling 13-38 record the past 51 games. The M’s finished off their 11-game homestand at 3-8, capped off by a 14-inning loss to the Astros on Thursday, although Seattle erased a four-run deficit to tie the game late. Since the start of May, the Mariners have won back-to-back games only once, while dropping 10 consecutive road contests.
