Halladay or Verlander???

Halladay is the best pitcher in baseball this year.

Doc: 2.34 (3rd)

Doc's BABIP is .304, Verlander's is .237. 
Doc's GB% is 50.7, Verlander's is 40.3
Doc's line drive rate is only 0.8% higher but has a IFFB rate 5.3% higher.
This explains his better WHIP, getting much MUCH more luck than Halladay this year. 

If you have a choice who pitched better in 2011, Halladay or Verlander and you pick Verlander, put down the pipe.

Interesting....a little misleading in spots.  Hard to compare ERA between an american league pitcher vs. National league.  War comparison is very telling.

Doc's K/BB ratio is absolutely amazing when you compare it to other top tier pitchers.

Interesting but your class seems to ignore the obvious fact that there are 9 real hitters in the AL lineups whereas in the NL there are only 8. There's a huge advantage facing NL teams when getting towards the bottom of the lineup. When in a jam, you don't have to give the 7th and especially the 8th hitters anything good to hit knowing the pitcher is batting 9th. In my opinion, that's worth anywhere from 1/3 of a run to 1/2 of a run alone. So Halladay should have a better ERA and WHIP. Also, I think there is an intangible when playing for teams like the Yankees and Phillies right now. Pitchers have a lot more confidence knowing their teams are the best and will score runs. At times, before the Tigers got hot, Verlander knew he had to throw a gem to win. Halladay has less pressure and more room for error. Put Verlander on the Phillies and in the NL and I think his numbers would definitely be ahead of Halladay's. having said that, they are the two best pitchers in baseball but watch out for Kershaw.

Halladay's numbers on the Jays were pretty impressive....not sure the switch team idea has much merit.  Fully agree though that Verlander has had a better season this year.

That's nice and all but a bunch of those stats like WAR and xFIP are league adjusted, so there goes that argument. 

It just doesn't make sense that Verlander is in the MVP discussion and Halladay isn't.
Halladay is having a better season for one, and Verlander's competition (Bautista, Ellsbury, Ganderson, etc.) are having better season than Halladay's competition (Kemp, Votto, Upton, etc.)

...and Detroit would win the division with or without Verlander, they are 13.5 games up (Philly is 11 games up)  That arguement doesn't make much sense either.
