Farris, I understand your frustration, but to answer your original question.. This is the only sport outta the major sports that rides solo for weeks on end. So as it stands now, we have no choice but to cap it as best we can.
Funny thing about baseball is, unless you have no idea what you're doing, you should never loose money. Sure its difficult to profit, but generally baseball isn't the sport that drains your balance. I'm not sure about 1st 5 in bets and I personally don't like them, but just find what works for you. Try to pick a handful of teams and only bet on those teams that you choose to follow. GL

I wouldn't argue this if it were any of the other 3 sports, but what separates bases from the others is the fact that gamblers seem to focus heavily on starting pitching. This takes away from the essence of following all teams, because pitchers decide the games for the most part.
What I'm saying is if you "limit" the teams you follow, it takes the pressure away from that focus on starting pitching that the "average bettor" generally depends on.
