Some call it posing and yeah , maybe but really they are just sitting back watching it fly , enjoying the moment. Flippng the bat? maybe that is a little much, but really , whats the big deal? I been watching baseball for years and I understand the unwritten rules but this one I dont get. It is certainly less dramatic than watching somebody dance and spike the ball after a TD and that happens all the time.
But when you watch the replay of Gomez watching his big fly, it really wasnt too bad. The fact that it didnt go over the wall and he ONLY got a triple doesnt really argue against posing. If he had been thrown out at third, his manager and teammates would have something to say but really, to me it is more bush league for somebody like Gerrit Cole to come run over and say something smart just cause he got whacked.
i just didnt see any big disrespect displayed by Gomez and my opinion is if you can hit the cover off the ball consistently , it isnt disrespect, it is OK by me. I remember when Manny Ramirez used to be the king of posing and even then , I thought it was justified.
(what about the respect for the game by jacking up with roids ?)

I fully agree. Pitchers think they are better than everyone else so they get butt hurt way too easy. I was hoping Cole would get knocked for acting like a tough guy

I love the game of Baseball but having grown up in a continent where it is not really played I've never really been able to relate to the 'unwritten rules'. Why is it ok for a pitcher to fist pump a strikeout (an incident that occurs 5-15 times a game for them) but not ok for a guy to enjoy a home run (an incident that occurs once every 5+ games). And why is it ok if this pitcher feels slighted for him to then throw a 90+mph projectile at a defenceless guy? Seems to me like pitchers cando what they want and hitters have to fall in line or risk getting injured by a fastball. Same goes for the way catchers use to get bowled over. When you guys are playing baseball as kids does anyone actually want to be the catcher? Guys like Posey, Molina and Mauer who would rather catch than play first base and take foul balls off every part of their body all night are crazy to me. Full kudos to the full time catchers from me, it is surely the toughest job in sports.
