@diondimucci&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA; The number of times Barry Lamar was walked the season of 73 dingers was astounding and makes the 73 even that much more impressive. I remember that summer, especially later in the season in August and Sept., ESPN would cut into his at-bats live every single time. It was literally like if a pitch was middle/middle it left the park every time.&#xD;&#xA;He may have hit 100 without any walks.

Probably situational. Statistically batting average against the batter and pitcher. Batting .300 for the season vs batting average against a lefty pitcher or the batting average of their past matchups.

Man on first. How many outs. Lefty vs right. Intentional walking one batter to face an easier batter according to the stats or pitchers confidence.

They just throw it on there to make the game more exciting.  I remembered a time when the pitcher faked a batter out in thinking he&#x27;s intentional but threw a strike in there.
