I'm no expert when it comes to sports gambling. I've been at it about 4 years now with very little success. Last nba playoffs I got onto PHIXERs thread through covers and had the blinders taken away for good. I'll never look at sports the same way again. I know he's not always right with his picks, but he's right more than he's wrong, and what he says sure makes a lot of sense to me.
He doesn't handicap baseball as far as I know and maybe there's a reason for that. But I have to say, if I can accept that nba and NFL have the powerful people pulling the strings, I can't see why that wouldn't be the case in baseball too. Anyway, I'm putting this out there to see if we can get some discussion going around who the MLB wants to see in the World Series and as champs this year to help us with a few wagers. I want to start with the two games today and a prediction for tomorrow's Mets-Dodgers game.

From the beginning in the AL, I figured MLBs top matchup would be Toronto-kc. Not really high profile teams, but toronto is the big story since the trade deadline and the royals came ever so close in game 7 of the World Series last year. This is a premiere matchup. With a 3-2 lead in Toronto today, the Rangers defence completely collapsed, and 3 of the 4 AWFUL plays involved Elvis Andrus. Now I'm not looking to determine who is, or isn't, involved in helping to alter the outcomes of games, but I think Andrus makes all 3 of those plays 80-90% of the time. I think 80-90% of little leaguers make the catch that he dropped at 3rd base in bottom 7 to load the bases. Someone santed the Jays to win that game. I felt sure the royals would win the late game too. Royals-Jays just felt like the right fit. Speaking of the royals, do you really believe that they scored 7 runs in the late innings in game 4 in Houston legitimately. Up 6-2 in the 8th and it all melts away without a single out recorded? I'm just saying.

St. Louis has had their turn and America is ready to see the Cubs get a shot at making the World Series for the first time in 70 years. I'm not at all surprised they are in the NLCS. The question is, who is the more interesting opponent? Two big market clubs with interesting stories and players, but certainly the dodgers are higher profile. Kershaw has been denied over and over again in the postseason and greinke has seen his fair share too. This could be the best 1-2 duo in baseball and I think people want to watch them for another round. You also have puig who's a guy MLB would love to see in the spotlight more. Combine the fact that the Dodgers-Cubs matchup seems to be ideal and that greinke is on the hill for LA and I like the Dodgers to take game 5.
Thursday Pick: LAD -150

Mets @ Dodgers

I don't know what you are getting at about Andrus. He is human, he choked. No one told him to make errors. I have played baseball for a long time. Actually, it is harder to make an error on purpose. Day in and day out you train, practice and program your body to make the plays. Doing the opposite is unnatural. I do see the bigger picture though. I think momentum (Cubs) has a big part.

I've played baseball since I was a kid too, albeit nowhere near the level of the majors, but I think dropping a decent throw at waist level when you're not really even thinking about trying to turn a DP or anything like that is almost impossible to do. Maybe he was nervous and jittery since he felt like he'd already screwed up the two previous plays. I'm not trying to pick on him. I don't really care about the errors, I'm just trying to make the point that an awful lot of crappy things happened to the Rangers in that 7th inning and maybe that's not a coincidence.
Anyways, whether you think this perspective is crazy or not, humour me and pretend it could be true for a minute. Or, don't even do that much. Reject it completely, but weigh in on the question: which teams would serve the best interest of the MLB? Who do you think they want playing the Cubs on Saturday and who do you think they want in the World Series?

Thank you for your opinion. I respect the fact that this perspective may seem ridiculous to many. I will just pose the question I've heard Phixer use on several occasions. With all the money at stake for the MLB and Vegas on these games, do you really think the biggest stakeholders would leave the results all up to chance?

Thank you!!! Somebody FINALLY F'n takes their blinders off! 3 errors in a row is unheard of. No coincidence in my opinion. But...
Your Dodgers pick sounds legit. I'm thinking that want a high profile team to compete with the Cubs. Dodgers fit that category. A Grienke/Kershaw and Arrieta/Lester face off I can imagine. Now the Mets aren't bad by any stretch, but I'm talking household name here.

You spend a lot of extra time hating on Phixer dude. You should get a hobby to substitute that time. I mean, you may not agree with evertyhing someone says, but you do the most. Where I'm from, we tell guys that conduct themselves as you do towards Phixer to "get off his d!ck"

Never blame on a conspiracy what could just as easily be blamed on human incompetence.
Andrus is paid 15 million a year, you can bribe an NCAA basketball player who isn't going to make it in the pros, you have almost no chance to bribe a guy who is getting paid 15 million a year. How and why people ignore facts to believe in goofy conspiracy theories is beyond my comprehension. Do a cost analysis on what it would take for baseball player to go through life known for single handedly blowing a playoff game when he is paid 15 million a year. Is Elvis Andrus desperately in need of a quick 100 million? And If someone bribed him they could only place a tiny fraction of that on bets so they would lose money.
Next week someone else will talk about another absurdly overpaid pro athlete on the take, and it will again be irrational nonsense.

I agree that money would not likely be an attractive offer to many pro athletes making millions, but are there not other ways to coerce people?

Dodgers don't deserve this win. They've had plenty of opportunities to score runs in this game. Like the first five innings of leaving runners in scoring position. Except for the 2nd of course. And yes, I had Dodgers ML. Of course I'm disappointed that they are losing. But I'm more disappoint by the fact that they should be winning right now had they capitalized on ALL the opportunities they had thought this game. Can't see them pulling it off at this point.
