are u dumb? who do u think the mets are gonna rest today?  reyes?  hell naw!  he doesnt need a rest. beltran will dh if anything.  bay just had a day off!  maybe turner gets the day off if anything!  yankees series means nothing to the mets. winning games means everything! this is a chance today at a 5-1 road trip.  mets will make verlander work hard today. dont forget we  beat jurrjens and hudson twice  gallardo ogando won a game marcum pitched  hamels among others. not saying we win today but it wont be a blow out!

I agree I doubt they're actually going to rest any key players, but don't say the Yankees series doesn't mean more than the average random series.

Also, the only pitcher you mentioned who is Verlander's level is Hamels, who pitched 7 innings, with 7 hits (one double, six singles), 0 walks and 2 runs.

Add to the fact that Verlander has been THE best pitcher this year, with a hot offense behind him, and I'd say that Pelfrey's the one in for a long day.

Verlander has only 3 wins on teams that are currently above .500

rostos that may be true but only 6 of the amercian league teams are above 500 ; only one loss came from a team above 500, that being texas

this year detroit is 5-9 against NL

the mets are 8-6 against AL opponents

so is taking the mets +200 a foolish play? there seems to be value there , but if detroit wins 3-1 i will wish i just took the under, i dont see detroit winning a slugfest....

I think the better bet is under.

Mets in there last 2 games scored 23 of there 30 runs with 2 outs. I dont think they get that lucky (clutch hitting) with Verlnader.

Tigs have also been hitting pretty good however.

It is a day game and maybe also a get away game.

Just my thoughts.......

Verlander gave up 5 earned runs in 2 innings pitched last time against the Mets....

....although this year he looks like he is in his 'mode' right now...

this game is a toss up, with Verlander -200 or even more by game time...i'd say there is no value in betting this game...

...too many unknowns, METS are hitting ANYBODY and EVERYBODY right now...

but Verlander has been shutting teams down...

this = a NO PLAY.

I have been on the Mets team total over for a few games now, but it is tough to do it against Verlander. That being said, if it's 3, I may take a shot at it again............

fresh like ughh, when was the last time he pitched against the mets? i agree this is probably a good game to avoid. even if the mets jump on verlander(unlikely), pelfrey could give up 8 runs like he did 6 days ago to the rangers

Mets -1.5 +345 for me.   Way too much value with the way the first two games of the series have gone.  Don Kelly pitched for the Tigers last night, the first position player in over 10 years.  Verlander is the best pitcher in the league but that certainly doesn't guarantee a win and having watched in-person the first game and on tv all the second game, the Mets certainly don't seem like they are going to look past Verlander on the mound this afternoon

Every pitcher has their bad game...even if they're the best at the time....I got a feeling that Verlander's mojo will diminish today. I think Mets win this one by more than 2 points.
