It is difficult to go against Matt Moore and have faith in Ryan Vogelsong’s
numbers to date, but he is 3-1 h2h and 4-0 for quality starts, and I have to
love what the Pirates are doing to left handed pitching. 17-8 on the season and
3 straight quality performances out of the break, with a 9.00 oera.

Smallish sample size, but birdtune's era 2.67 lowest it ever was. Last loss 'gainst southpaw was F.liriano's last straw - bye bye... 'fore that, Nephew...to the pen. Bucs pretty serious 'bout WildC.
Frisco's fonda birdtune, dancing 'em to a pair of WSrings... may let up, like Lackey got 'gainst cards' lackeyluster 11 K's...

Curious Key-what's your take on Maddon, Cub's manager? Everyone seems enamored with him and why not-Cubs on cruise control! However, last night, he makes a very curious move, bringing in a very rusty pitcher in a tough situation. He had other options but he brings in Rondon. Of course, the Cubs go on to lose a game they had in hand. No biggie right? I mean your up 30 games and it's cruise control. However, to my eye, it points out the potential achilles heel of the Cubs! There pullpen is still a crapshoot basis, especially in pressure situations. They literally have one shut down guy in Chapman.

Maddon knows his game and what he is doing, but he has room for all kinds of looks at different people. Heck, he is starting Trevor Cahill tomorrow and that is just a look-see before he starts considering his post season roster. None of it is really significant. You hit the playoffs hot or you don't. There is cruise control right now but every manager knows it ends October 1st and the two best things you can be is hot and healthy. Yesterday, today or tomorrow do not effect my opinion of Maddon. He got the Rays to the W.S. on a tight budget, now he is reveling in luxury, but until he is called on to manage a tight playoff game out-by-precious-out what he does is mostly irrelevant.

Now that NFLx-ers 'easy mlb winners' see MOOSE, ELKEy shine time. Also, Colon pitches his 500th career game... he's old, but his skin's ice. In his career he's got the W vs. all teams but zona: motivation issues?

More legendaries: Anaheim tonite, King's win No. 150, Obviously it's the 4-yr anniversary of his perfect game, & off best start since coming off DL: 1 run in 7i 8 K's, but he's 1-2 this yr., only 9-15 in LAA's land of stars.
control issues -- 21 earned runs w/ 25:12 K:BB over 31.2. decline in velocity at the age of 30: 3.39 ERA, & his peripherals (4.45 FIP) certainly says he's the not quite the name-brand ace he once was...even when he was, he could'nt string B2B good starts together vs. LAA. Angels are in his head, just floating around (the plate as he TROUT's SMOKED !!)
But Sea just doesn't play good ball on Sun's & Mon's, and Nolasco likes to take down stars, esp. in August, opposing: Lackey, Strasburg, Carpenter, Cueto & Cain Nolasco had 6K 1 BB against the almighty Cubbies: his 1st win as an Angel may come at a King's expense.
