I love the Mets today, too. Carlos Carrasco returns to action after missing nearly three weeks with an oblique strain. His ERA over his last 5 home starts is 2.48. Meanwhile Erick Fedde’s ERA over his last 7 starts is 7.11. Even if Carrasco’s a little off after missing a few starts, I don’t see how the Mets don’t smack these bit.ches up.
The Mets are 14-3 this season at home off a home loss. They’re 7-0 at home off a home loss if it’s the last game of at least a 3-game series. Here were the scores…

Also, the Mets are now 15-2 at Citi Field this season after splitting the previous two games of the series. They are a perfect 5-0 in this situation since the All-Star break, dusting their opponents by scores of 8-5, 8-5, 6-2, 6-0, and just three days ago, 5-3 against the mighty Dodgers.
The Nationals are 1-5 this season in the final game of a road series if they won the day before. Their only win in this situation occurred on June 5th in Cincinnati. The Nationals were outhit in that game 13-7. In the 4th inning, the Reds committed 2 errors that helped the Nats score 2 runs, and that made the difference in a 5-4 Nats win. Since that game, the Nationals have been in this situation four times and they lost those four games by scores of 7-0, 5-3, 4-2, and 7-1.
I recommend laying the run and a half today and laughing. No, wait - don’t laugh. That’s bad luck. Lay the run and a half and hope you’re not as big a loser as you think you are. That will be my approach.

Prior to Friday’s action, I wondered how the Mets were gonna get themselves up for the AAA Nationals after triumphantly finishing an exciting playoff preview series against the mighty Dodgers. After the Mets won the opener, 7-3, I thought to myself “I guess they were able to do it.”
