Monday: 1-2 (PENDING Astros/A's UNDER 7, maybe a push?)
Tough luck on Monday. Decided against doing Jays -137 and went with the value with the -1.5 +144 and it bit me in the ass with a one run win. Jays couldn't cash in with RISP. Foolishly went with the under in the A's game when I should have just stuck with the RL.
On to Tuesday, get ready for a DOG DAY.
Pirates +140 over Cardinals
This line is crazy inflated. Jake Westbrook has pitch 15.2 innings of shutout ball but he's gotten lucky. He's K/BB ratio is 4:10. That's ugly. He could be due for a blowup against these red-hot Pirates bats. Dating back to 2010, the Cards have gone 0-5 in Westbrook's starts vs. the Pirates. As I mentioned yesterday, the Pirates have consistently played this Cardinals team tough. Jonathan Sanchez is wild, but he has good stuff. Perhaps PNC Park can hide his shortcomings. Give me the Buccos.
Royals +170 over Braves
Going against the hottest team in baseball right now. The Royals have cashed in with RISP this year and have an emerging powerhouse lineup. Kris Medlen has been sloppy early on, posting a lackluster 4 ks in 12 innings while walking 6. Since becoming a Royal, Guthrie has been a solid innings-eater in the mold of the Braves very own Paul Maholm. I believe this line is crazy inflated because the Braves are on fire, but the Royals can cool them off at a great price here.
Blue Jays -1.5 +144 over White Sox
The Sox pen is gassed in this one, as Gavin Floyd lasted 4.1 innings. The Jays should have pounded them last game but continue to struggle with RISP. Joey Bats will be back for this game, and it is likely that Brett Lawrie will join him in the lineup. Dylan Axelrod is a decent young pitcher but he has had trouble keeping his pitch count down. Look for the Jays to work him and he'll likely last 5 innings. I'm still a big believer in Josh Johnson.
Diamondbacks +115 over Yankees
Brandon McCarthy has been shelled in his first two starts, but I'm still a big believer in him. This Yankees lineup is not the same and as a big time groundball pitcher I think he can shut them down. I think he bounces back in a big way in this one. Ivan Nova will likely get shelled in this one.
My record will be posted tomorrow after the A's under loses or pushes.

Man, your angles are not good. 1-3 maybe an 0-4 day. McCarthy is terrible. Westbrook owns the Pirates. Royals can be a coin flip, but why would you take Guthrie over Medlen? The final game with Josh Johnson is comical. He's terrible. I'll be back tomorrow to clown you. Also let me know if you need a bookie because I would love having a player like you who continually takes bad games with terrible angles.

Westbrook was 1-4 with a 5.12 ERA vs the Pirates last year, I would not call that owning.....

I am a huge cards fan, and I def. dont think that Westbrook owns the Pirates. The cards have to have a good outing from him because our BP has been struggling with Motte going down. BUT we have a hell of a line up and I expect to see Matt Adams in there so they should be able to out slug them. I have also watched a lot of Medlen I would agree that Its tough to bet against him, with KC. I still feel like KC is still a good ways of away from being relevant. That being said the spread is so high why not take a flyer on it. Def. wouldnt put it in a parlay though.

- To the dude who says McCarthy is terrible. Instead of making claims like this, maybe back it up with facts? The last 2 years he's gone:
2012: 111 IP 3.24 ERA 1.25 WHIP
2011: 170.2 IP 3.32 1.13 WHIP
So are we going to dismiss those numbers based on 11.2 innings of poor performance? If you do then you obviously do not know a thing about baseball.
Now granted, that was in Oakland. Chase Field is much more of a hitters park. But his groundball tendencies will neutralize the negative effect of the hitters park, as it has with Trevor Cahill. Ivan Nova put up a 6.08 ERA and 1.61 WHIP at home last year. And the fact of the matter is, the DBacks are a better ball club than the Yankees are right now (with the injuries).
Pirates
This is purely a value play. I hate Jonathan Sanchez. But PNC is a pitchers park that has masked the deficiencies of such gas cans as Erik Bedard and Jeff Karstens. I believe he can have some success there. Add in the facts that Westbrook struggles in PIT, the Pirates play STL tough, and are a good home team, and you have a very nice value pick.

This is a team that has a very good up and coming lineup and off to a 7-5 start. The Braves are the best team in baseball. I bet on them to win the World Series before the season began. Having said that, +170 is insane value on the young Royals. Guthrie has been solid in KC and Medlen hasn't impressed me early on (this is compounded by the fact that he had a poor Spring).
Jays -1.5
More good value on a much better team. If you honestly believe JJ is a bad pitcher than you don't have a clue what you're talking about. He's had two poor starts. I expect a big bounce back against Axelrod who struggles to make it past the 5th inning.
I'll be adding more plays in a minute. I'm always up for a good argument on baseball, but you gotta bring some facts to the table.

It's time to hop on the Barry Zito bandwagon. The guy has been untouchable dating back to last season, the Giants have won his last 15 starts. He has started this year off with 14 innings of shutout ball. Peralta is a good young pitcher but this is a gift.
Rays/Orioles UNDER 9
Gotta keep riding the Rays under right now. This team can't hit anything right now. They really need a spark and will likely struggle to score runs until they call up Wil Myers.
