Actually they didn't release the new flu shot that have the recommended strains in it until late February and they don't release flu shots until they meet to discuss recommended formulations for the upcoming year based on epidemiological data. Sometimes the strain combo is already present in the fluzone vaccine which is the most common flushot I give so they don't have to create a new formulation. Sometimes they don't.
The flu shot you were receiving in march was a flu shot left over from the 2014 batch most likely because as I said they didn't even decide on composition until late February for the upcoming year.
Also, because I care about you I will also tell you it is recommended to get a flu shot in late august/early septermber because the season runs generally from OCT-May so getting it I March is not going to help you much if you get it before then
It's interesting that got yours in March because I haven't given a flu shot since February
