Uhm he’s not the best pitcher or best hitter in the league. 

he hits .256 with 44 HRs and 94 RBI… 

he is on pace to strike out 200 times. That’s pathetic!!! 

Does anybody realize or experts know Babe Ruth stats are ridiculous and theee was a reason to stop pitching because hitting is an everyday thing.

ohtani is 27…. Babe Ruth had already had two seasons of 59 and 54 HRs and hit .377 in those seasons. 

Also Ruth was 94-46 with 2.28 era which included 107 Complete games and 17 shutouts. 

ohtani is never going to match this so stop saying it.

Cut the guy some slack...Wait until he has Trout and a Rendon protecting him...where pitchers have to pitch to him...He is probably burnt out..he's played a ton of games pitching and hitting...

Dude is playing almost everyday and pitching every 5 games.. 

Don't compare him to Babe but anyone in the last handful of decades who can throw 99 and hit 40+ Homer's 

It's not easy to pitch and bat. No pitcher is batting like him.

 You do realize the mlb league  ohtani is facing and what he is doing is vs players that are much more trained and talented than back in babe Ruth's days.  It's even more amazing if you consider how well trained and the tech we have for players these days compared to back then.  That's why so many players fail coming up.   

I understand that many can’t do what he does.

Given that there is a reason he’s always hurt and isn’t the best at one or the other. 

Make him a pitcher or a DH… There’s a reason guys don’t do it because it’s to much.

Just look at the Angels lineup. I'm actually surprised, they're scoring so many runs with that lineup

Shohei is a very good player, he pitches decently, throws the ball in the high nineties, he definitely has home run power, he runs real good but I have to agree with the OP he is no Babe! Nobody even comes close to the Babe, the Babe is one of a kind! We will never see in our lifetime a player that could match the Babe or even be better than him.

If you bring back babe ruth from his prime to today, he will struggle to hit .250 and 20hr in a season. if he pitches, his era would be over 6.

What ohtani is doing now is unmatched by any in terms of pitching/hitting combo. Based on what he is doing, he should be highest paid player in the league.

Yes, today’s athletes are stronger and more powerful than 100 years ago. Back then a fastball topped out at 90 mph, now it’s 100. They did jack home runs back then also but again 90 mph was tops that some guy would pitch with 85ish being the norm

 Why? If you put ohtani out there he wouldn’t last more than a month more or two. You realize pitchers pitched every other day and rarely was there a reliever. Ohtani can’t stay healthy. How would he be able to pitch and reminder he is a shitty fielder so how does he play everyday? 

The comparison to Babe is simply the hitting/pitching duality of the two of them. Who else is done it at all, let alone with success? No one I know. I'm sure Ohtani is probably embarrassed to be compared to the Babe. Only one Babe. Eat 6 hot dogs and drink 6 beers and then go hit 3 HRs. Who doesn't luv the Babe?

The kids in here know nothing about the history of this sport. The majority of today’s players have no business wearing a Major League uniform.

He is not a lock at all what so ever. But, he is on his way... I don't think he gets it this yr even though he is a beast
