Wasn’t going to write this but it just stands out … Randal Grichuk gets my nomination for so many reasons that are too many to mention. Lasts nites performance said it all: O-4 - hit into double play Foul out Strikeout Hit into another double play Need I say more??! Feel a lot better now that I have ranted… Bullpen is a story for another time…
Twenty home runs, 72 rbi ... one bad game. Guessing you didn't play the Tigers.

Good thing you're not a Tiger fan like me. As much as I've enjoyed Cabrera's career (an all time great IMO), his last few years with age and injuries, his contract is killing the team. He has 2 more years at around $32 mil. The guy's bat speed is so slow now, he can't get around on pitches he used to hit for HR's. I have a feeling that after he gets #500 and #3,000, the Tigers do what the LAA did to Prince Albert this year. Nobody wants to pay a player that much money that can't produce, especially when there's a kid named Torkelson at AAA Toledo almost ready to take over at first base.
I refuse to belong to any organization that will have me as a member.

Looking at the top player contracts, here's a great list of some over paid players.
Stephan Strasburg 60 day IL (again) $32,045,246
David Price $32 MIL mostly pitched out of the BP
Giancarlo Stanton $29 MIL 59 HR's his last year in Miami. 65 HR's in his 4th year with the Yankees. Lot's of IL time for him as well.
Paul Goldschmidt $25,333,333 Power numbers are down this year and he's 33 (34 next month). 3 years left on his contract.
Other names: J. Upton $24.7 MIL Patrick Corbin $24.4 MIL R. Cano $24 MIL Wil Myers $22.5 MIL Francisco Lindor $22.3 MIL 228 BA Chris Davis (Baltimore) $21 MIL and he gets paid annually until he's 65. Well not that old, but around 15 more years for less money. (see Bobby Bonilla). Jason Heyward $21 MIL
Lot's of terrible contracts out there. The Tigers finally got Zimmerman's contract off the boards at the end of last year ($30 MIL). If owners and GM's are willing to over pay players that's their ignorance. Just because a guy has 1 good year, GM's foam at the mouth hoping he's going to always be that player. I grew up in the 50's and 60's when players made $20K per season or more. They got paid for what they did season by season. How you pay a player for 10 years in the future is beyond my way of thinking. Age and injuries are unpredictable how a player will perform, but it just make sense to me to pay a guy for no more than 5 years if you're gonna give him a long contract..

Lot's of players like that. Winning a game big they hit a Grand Slam. Need a Grand slam and they strike out or hit into a double play. Clutch hitters are becoming a rare breed.

I'm 69 years old. I got to see players in their prime like Kaline, Aaron, Mays, Mantle, Clemente, Gibson, Koufax, Ford, and so many others. I caught the end of Ted Williams and Stan Musial's careers.
I was at Tiger Stadium the day Denny McClain won his 30th game vs the A's.
I wouldn't change any of that. I enjoyed the game back then. No pitch counts. Pitchers hit in the A.L. and there were a lot of pitchers who could hit. Games took a little over 2 hours, non of this 4 hour BS. Thursday I watched the Tigers blow a 10-2 lead and lose 13-10. The game took 3:58. Umpires used the real strike zone. Not anything over the belt is a ball. Players new how to hit the cutoff man. I can't believe how many guys don't know where to throw the ball. I see so many mistakes in todays game, it's mind boggleing.

Worst timing lol...he smashes today. He is very streaky I will agree he can be frustrating at times..but then again so can a lot of players. I mean look at Vladdy. He smashes last night but he's been atrocious after the all star break. It happens bud!

He is streaky. Been that way since he got here he usually starts slow however then has 1-2 months of great play. This season was the opposite but when you look at his overall numbers they’re pretty good for a guy batting 6-7 in the order all year.
He’s getting paid 10 mil/per that’s underpaid for his production.
