Good luck O's fans, more smoke and mirrors. Gallardo was declining 2 years ago in the NL and showed more decline last year in the AL. Why he got 3 years is beyond me, he was as desperate for a job as the O's were for a starter.

They never are pleased with the physical. The O's and Angelos 100% cheap
Ever since Albert Belle the Orioles and Angelos have the most strenuous and thorough physicals in the baseball. It saved them from Grant Balfour and was part of the reason they didnt go above what the Braves offered Markakis to bring him back.
Angelos isn't cheap and you should read up more about the Nats/O's MLB legal battle about MASN because that is a huge reason the O's are being careful with their spending. Angelos outsmarted the Nats and MLB as part of the agreement for the Nats being moved into the Orioles TV market and because Angelos outsmarted them and they agreed to a deal that properly compensated the Orioles for stealing their market share the Nats are crying poor and the MLB is backing the Nats.
The O's wont lose that case in court and have every right to stand their grounds. When that case is settled the O's will open up the purse a little more but they are still a mid market team and will never spend like the large market teams.

I believe Gallardo's GB rate is why the O's took the gamble. I haven't looked at any of his numbers and am going by pure memory so I can be completely wrong. Yes he has been declining but they needed an inning eaters and took a flier.
I wasn't happy with giving up their pick to sign him and the Fowler signing I feel the same way. Im less upset with the Fowler signing but losing your 1st 2 draft picks wasnt worth it in my opinion especially when your farm system is thin with talent.

Apparently they have settled at 2 years / 22 mill with a club option for another year, but I can't see the AL East as the best place for a right hander to rebuild his rep. Agree with jpero (maybe for the first time ever) that rebuilding in this manner is very risky. Gallardo and Fowler will not put you over the top and a lack of draft picks does not bode well for the future either. Wouldn't be surprised to see Buck start looking for a way out of town.

Buck isn't going anywhere. I don't feel like looking it up but I'm pretty sure dexter is a switch hitter. I wouldn't be surprised to see him hit 25+ hr next year

The right handed reference was to Gallardo. Yes, Fowler is a switch hitter, at least in baseball. I have no knowledge of his sex life and no reason to investigate.

You have to question why any player would want to go to a toilet of a city like Baltimore. especially after they burned the city down LY after the Freddie Gray issue
