In exchange for catcher Yasmani Grandal, Joe Wieland and another prospect (presumably Zach Efflin). The Padres will also receive Tim Federowicz while the Dodgers will cover $30 of the $107 million left on Kemp's contract.

What is the status of Kemp's injuries?  I know he missed a lot of time over the last two seasons.  Is he finally healthy enough to stay on the field in 2015?

Kemp 2nd half stats 2014: 17 HR 54 RBI in 263 PA
That qualifies as healthy.

Kemp seemed healthy last season. I would have traded Ethier, to be honest, but I think this was destined to happen. All the rumors over then years after his breakout season must have produced some bad blood. It'll be weird to see the Padres have an impact bat like Kemp in that lineup and I wonder if they plan to add to it because nobody has worked out for this team from a power standpoint since AGon.

The Padres will officially pay him $15 million per season while the Dodgers take on the remaining $32 million that he'll be owed.

Well I think this a move the Padres had to make to show their fans they are not just being cheap all of the time and that they are trying to address the glaring need for offense.

The Dodgers are in an enviable position, able to move disappointments and egos and absorb the cost while keeping that wicked rotation intact. I disagree on moving Ethier as opposed to Kemp, they need to keep the hungrier players, not the ones enamored with their personal opinions of themselves while not really contributing much. Part of Kershaw's playoff problem may be worrying about no comeback ability from the offense. Once you are down, you lose. jmho

Apparently the Padres are also still interested in Justin Upton. Now that makes less sense, imo, because I can't imagine them resigning him but he'd definitely make that team more relevant THIS year if they keep Cashner/Ross (and they stay healthy).

The Padres new owners have the money to spend. Cashner, Ross, Kennedy, Despaigne and Hahn is top 5 rotation in mlb. Along with Quackenbush and Benoit to finish games. The Padres lost half of there games by one run. All SD needs is a bat or two and they are set.

Only in fantasy land does that trade happen and make sense.

Braves are looking for young cost controlled prospects. They aren't going to give up one of the best RH bats in the game for an old Seth Smith who is a platoon player, basically (he cant hit LH pitching).

If Upton is moved its for a similar package that Heyward was moved.

Matt Kemp being injury prone is a pretty big myth. He just had a serious fractured ankle that he tried to come back from too quick. He is finally healthy. He was as good as any hitter in baseball the 2nd half the of the season.

'07 - 98 games

'08 - 155 games

'09 - 159 games

'10 - 162 games

'11 - 161 games

'12 - 106 games

'13 - 73 games

'14 - 150 games. (That includes time he was benched for his poor OF play and the fact Mattingley hated him.)

Unsure why he gets so much flack for being 'injury prone.' Fractured/broken ankle is a very serious injury.

Liking the Padres chances next year.
I grabbed them at 55 to 1 
The day they got Upton
Now they are at 20 to 1

Am wondering what the season win totals will be. Had the Padres under 77.5 last year, and they won 77. They are better, but I wonder if Vegas will give them a hyper-inflated line. Also will have to consider the Rockies season win total, as this is a rough division.

I admit i'm one of the few but i like Kemp and i was hoping the Tigers would get him. But they never get who i want so
