Gonzo could have 2 at bats with runner in scoring position, but his replacement Young that is messing up twice.....and then of course Mattingly didn't pinch run for Ellis.
I was surprised Gonzo was pinch run for when he was only at first base. You only pinch run for your best hitter when he's in scoring position.
THANK YOU!!!. It was a tie game when Gonzo was pinch run for. Does Mattingly knows that they might go into extra innings and Gonzo's bat might be very valueable? I guess he didn't. You just don't pinch run for another player when he's on first base unless you plan on having the pinch rnnner steal second.
