Briefly why.
Cubs down 3-1, LAD could throw this one away, and the next, and still win,
but they have their ace tonight so, suppose Cubs "believe" and are
ahead 5th inning. Suppose, kershaw doesnt really have it. Coach
says, well, why not rest closers, and mail this one in. we go back
home win one of two, no problem, celebrate there, with our fans
the way LA has been waiting for for many years, and then get ready to
play the series all of america wants, yanks and dodgers, coast to coast
most populated areas, ratings skyrocket, everybody makes a lot of
cash. Maddon is no fool, he knows, if they can win tonight, one at
a time, pressure builds on LAD. Quintana stats are not that far from kershaw's v these two teams. The point is, everything is pointing in favor of the cubs winning tonight, if "the plan" goes off a bit. The umps take the opportunity to call a "fair" game, so their favor to LAD and NYY goes away for one night. Yes, fact, calls going there way, ever so skillfully. If someone has puppet strings on this series, I say they let cubs win one more, Chicago celebrates, and then lower the boom. Everybody wins.
Maddon just needed a leader to step up and wake up from the batting slump, well whatever slump buster method they used, I think it worked last night with Baez, and I think it gets rizzo and others going, its contagious, and that is just what lad doesnt want, and against their ace. Yikes. Wait one minute. Even Zobrist ends his hitting into double plays streak tonight. Momentum is big, and if the cubs can generate some "believe", I think they can take tonight's game. And oh the LAD creeping doubt happens, at least it has life. And if they can figure out a way to win one more, "so you are saying there's a chance". Also, Forsthye is the only dodger with good numbers v Quintana. And only 2 lad hrs, ever. Quintana likes this spot, the light shining on him against the ace drama. He steps up big tonight.
Slight wind blowing out, cool night, low humidity.
Just giving this "Maddon" thinking a try. He has tried motivating them, getting tossed twice now. Now the players have to step up, and I think they will tonight, back against the wall, what have I got to loose. IMO Best of fortunes all.
