Well in 2014 it will be 100 years since the first world war broke out. Especially the commonwealth countries will celebrate that with some high profile limited TV series.
Here is the drama, and of course there will also be a boatload of documentary's.
The Wipers Times (BBC2 Tv movie air date late 2013)
It is quite interesting that two of the shows focus on female nurses. But i am particular interested in the two Gallipoli shows from downunder. That should be some great tv.

Discovery's The Military Channel has had both The First World War and World War I in Colour series which are both excellent. not surprised that Australian and New Zealand TV channels would have shows about Gallipoli

Yeah i think it is a pretty big deal for the Commonwealth. Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and some other more or less exotic countries lost A LOT of soldiers during the 1 ww.
From what i could gather the Gallipoli miniseries on ch. 9 , supposed to be their "band of brothers" series.

most people don't realize that the United Kingdom had more than twice as many deaths during WWI than during WWII and the Commonwealth countries of Australia, New Zealand and Canada had 50% more
