BBC America airing 8 classic Doctor Who episodes from the Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor years from the mid 1970's thru early 80's including the 6 episode "Genesis of the Daleks" which aired on PBS in the U S back in 1975 and has NOT to my knowledge been on American TV since. Tom Baker is STILL the most popular Doctor in Doctor Who fan polls and "Genesis of the Daleks" is the #1 highest rated epesode EVER. this will be a "blast from the past" for old "Whovians" like myself and should be a "must record" for anyone who is a fan of the new series on BBC America and has never seen them. all times are pacific
Monday 9-28 @ 7:00am. Logopolis first aired March 1981. stars Tom Baker as The Doctor in the last episode in his 8 year run. at the end he "re-generates' into the 5th Doctor played by Peter Davison

Wednesday 9-30 @ 7:00am. The Keeper of Traken first aired February 1981.

Friday 10-2 @ 7:00am. Terror of the Zygons first aired September 1975. the first appearance of Nicholas Courtney as "companion" Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart of UNIT in a Tom Baker episode

hopefully BBC America will continue to air more classic Doctor Who episodes and add some from other Doctor's like the first three William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee. ALL were excellent as was the 7th Sylvester McCoy who brought a great comedy touch to the roll.
IF I could select I would add The Sontaran Experiment (February1975) because the The Sontaran were one of the more interesting Doctor Who adversaries, The Time Warrior (January 1974) with Jon Pertwee as The Doctor which introduced BOTH longest running companion Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith and Nicholas Courtney as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Revenge of the Cybermen (May 1975) because after the Daleks the Cybermen were The Doctor's most used adversaries, and The Pirate Planet (October 1978) because it was a great story and features the "tin dog" K-9 voiced by John Leeson
btw, the NEW season of Doctor Who has started with Peter Capaldi as The Doctor and the lovely Jenna-Louise Coleman as companion Clara Oswald. the first two part episode The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar repeats again Saturday @ 5:00pm & 8:00pm followed by the premier of the second episode of the season Under The Lake
ENJOY!!!

looks interesting. I know it is based a true event 1st year of WWI. in fact "Chritmas cease fire" really "hair lipped" the general staffs of BOTH sides. IF the "soldaten" of ALL the waring countries had just refused to fight each other, that damn war might have ended right then and there

i haven't watched any Doctor Who shows. i have it on my netflix list but just haven't gotten around to it.
don't you have a DVR and get BBC America? easier than screwing with netflix just to record and I don't know IF netflix offers any of the classic episodes from back in Tom Baker's time

interesting note on The Keeper of Traken. at the end of the 4 part serial the character of Consul Tremas, played by Anthony Ainley, body is taken over by the Doctor's Time Lord arch enemy The Master who's Melkur statue is actually his TARDIS time machine. he went on to play that part until the end of the early Doctor Who series in 1989. way cute Sarah Sutton as Nyssa became a Doctor's companion in subsequent serials with both Tom Baker and Peter Davidson. The Doctors male companion Adric was the one of the most popular in the history of the show

No doubt "Genesis of the Daleks" is a key episode.
well considering it is still THE most watched Doctor Who serial EVER, I would say so Adric is famous for being one of the few companions to die. Another companion died in a Hartnell episode.
yes, that happened inEarthshock, a Peter Davison as The Doctor serial featuring the Cybermen in March 1982. it is another I wish BBC America would broadcast. was VERY rare for a companion to die in an episode BUT it brought about life on earth.

The Seeds of Doom (January - March 1976) was a six episode serial with Tom Baker as The Doctor featuring Elisabeth Sladen as companion Sarah Jane Smith. never seen this one so looking forward to it. plays on BBC America Thursday October 8th @ 11:00pm pacific time
hopefully this means BBC America will be offering even MORE Doctor Who classics

btw, Terror of the Zygons was excellent BUT they got all "arty-smarty"with the Zygon's diction. their whispery, raspy voices were hard to understand

Logopolis. watched last night and was one of the better Doctor Who classics BBC America has aired so far. featured Matthew Waterhouse and the lovely Sarah Sutton as "companions" Adric and Nyssa (carry-over from her role in The Keeper of Traken) along with new companion Janet Fielding as Tegan who is almost as sexy as Louise Jameson's Leela. also the first full serial with Anthony Ainley as The Master after he took over Nyssa's father's body at the end of The Keeper of Traken. THE big scene at the end with the Tom Baker Doctor "regenerating" into the Peter Davidson model
