James Cameron's monster flick opens this weekend to clear theaters and it looks like the "perfect storm" for a massive opening weekend. Reports have the production budget around $300 mil and close to $500 mil with marketing. I think we're looking at The Dark Knight kind of numbers domestically, should go for $350-$400 mil in the US. Opens to about 3,500 theaters at least count, not sure if it's going to get to 4,000.
What are everyone's opening weekend projections?
I've seen websites and movie buffs anywhere from $70mil to close to breaking the $158+mil record.
I'm somewhere in between, between $115-$125 mil IMO.
Some offshore sportsbooks will be posting totals on this movie, hope they put up a stupid number like for New Moon.

Intertops had a prop bet on the opening weekend. Ranges from below 70, 70-80, 80-90 and 90+
Each had odds EV+ and I went with Over 90 million (+400)
I believe below 70 and 70-80 were about +150 each and 80-90 was +200
Once again, the sportsbooks have no idea whats going on with movie totals, and like BetEd with New Moon, are hanging themselves out to dry with no MAX wager.

looks like its going to be around 70-75 million opening weekend, but with the great word of mouth that this movie will get, it will be very popular for about a month, especially through the christmas season...its a perfect family flick that kids, teenagers, young adults, and parents can all enjoy...the visuals are stunning, and IMO Zoe Saldana brings realism to the movie.
