Best Documentary I've Seen in Years: I Know What I Saw

We are not alone.

Some people estimate the universe to be about 150 billion light years wide.  Light travels more than 5.8 trillion miles in a year.  So just take 150 billion and multiply that by 5.8 trillion, and our universe could be that big in miles. 

I did the math and came up with this number:  8.798544e+23.  I'm not sure what this is, but I know that we can't comprehend this distance.

It may be smaller, it may be bigger.  Others estimate that there could be as many as 200 million galaxies in the universe.  The point is, how can anyone assume that we are alone?  How could we be that self absorbed?  In my opinion, it's just ridiculous.

I think there is something coming up soon that will wake people up.  And I mean EVERYONE.  I just hope they don't come with cruel intentions, because they could probably destroy us in a matter of a few minutes.

It's a mathmatical probability that there is other life forms in the milky way galaxy. Let alone the rest of the universe.

But I find no reason to believe we've been visited by aliens.

If you could somehow travel at 99% the speed of light and if you stopped and looked at every planet that could support life it would take millions of years to get across the just the milky way alone.

What are the odds of someone finding and taking an interest in us?

Some good points there but...

You're forgetting that if they are out there and they have visited us, they are obviously light years ahead of us in technology.  Which means they have more advanced and quicker methods to find other habitable planets in the galaxy/universe. 

Also, you ask why they would take an interest in us.  I mean, exploration alone of other planets and beings pays off in countless ways.  If we would find life on another planet, and many say it's just a matter of time, we are going to investigate further.  Chances are, we have nothing that they need (we hope we dont).  Of course, at this point, we don't know anything about what they have and what they might need.  Fact is, we know nothing about them.  Meanwhile, they may have been collecting information on us for centuries or perhaps thousands of years.

Just a couple of minutes, and I've seen all the shows on Discovery channel etc.

The math and more importantly logic doesn't support being visited and eye witness accounts have been proven to be pretty much worthless. But like the Fox's poster says "I want to believe". I just don't.
