oh the reason you dont see the cornelia marie is because its in dry dock getting fixed, that and the fact that the king crab quotas are cut in half for everyone because they have been overfished, and the tanner (bairdi) crab season is completely shut down due to small numbers.
and money, you could do that if you wanted to, i had a buddy that went up and did it awhile back, he did a 3 month contract and made just under 10k. considering the amount of hours he put in, it came out to about a $10hr job
The story line changes because of the characters on the boat. The reason the show is a success is because fans like me enjoy watching the danger and beauty of the ocean.
Plus we become fans of the captains and crew. Wild bill, freddy, keith, monte, elliott, scott, the harris brothers, the hillstrand’s, and jake and the hansen’s and phil (rip)
make the show awesome.
Fishing is the most dangerous job in the world. Check the world rankings. 15-21 hour days in below freezing temperatures soaking wet and ive seen fisherman work 40 hours straight.
Most greenhorns describe it as having the flu body flu with seasickness that is constant and can last hours or days with a sledgehammer and knife in hand on a boat that's listing from side to side, is slippery with ice, in 60-mph winds with no sleep.
Most greenhorns break after the first 450 consecutive pots and that’s just the beginning of the trip. If they make it past the 450 consecutive pots then they have to endure 3-4 hours of sleep and wake up and do it all over again.
Only 10 percent of greenhorns actually make it. I consider myself a bad ass but I don’t know if my brain and body could handle that.
Sig kinda looks like nowitzki’s dad I guess.
